Laptop drive remember!
So its reasonable that Nintendo sells $100 worth of Hardware for $250 retail?
Its also reasonable that computer companies charge you more for a system than you can build yourself?
But its unreasonable that Microsoft gives people an easy way to upgrade their HDD without tools (Who has a precision screw-driver set really!) In an external casing.

The big difference between the "overpriced" Wii and the "overpriced" 360 HDD and WiFi is that the vast majority of people want a Wii compared to the other two items.
No 360 WiFi built in is a pain, especially now since COMMUNITY GAMES purchased cannot be played unless one is online.
2009 is going to be a pivotal year for the 360, as Microsoft has to choose between the lucrative "nickel and diming" of the hardcore fanboys and the "ease of use" the mass market requires. (Most people aren't going to go out and hunt down a old XBOX bridge.)
Things Microsoft need to do:
- free up the HDD for video storage. As is, I must use a connected PC for storage (artificial problem)
- include WiFi
- allow off the shelf HDD's
- allow a wider range of video bitrates for video playback
- allow purchased COMMUNITY GAMES be played while not online
- use a weaker spring on the USB port cover (it pushes quite hard on USB sticks, I will be fixing this myself once my warranty expires)
BTW, I bought a 320 GB SATA 2.5" drive about two months ago for $93 at retail. There is no justification for a $100 60GB drive.
I wish the 360 proponents would praise its good points but criticize its weaknesses more. If the early adopters did not accept RRoD, etc so easily, Microsoft would have been forced onto a better position now.
if it pleases you:
artificial Wii weaknesses:
- can't play games from the SD card
'artificial' PS3 weaknesses:
- price
