And obviously video games are not down, so in case you were curious of the definition of "recession proof"

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Items over 1000 dollars are "luxury" items, and HDTVs sell the PS3 as good as any game, thus, this recession is hurting the PS3's expansion into the market at a vital time.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Can someone explain why the title on the picture is 'Bah, humbug'?

This is invisible text!

Historically, the area of entertainment usually does decent during economic slowdowns.  Historically games and movies have done well.  In one sense, videogames combine games with movies, so there is grounds to believe they can weather economic slowdowns. Doesn't mean the number of studios won't decline, but the total sales can hold their own.

Because it's the Wall Street Journal, and they're all scrooges.  When people don't buy their producs because they have silly things to do like 'feed their family' and 'watch their life savings wither away because they invested in their company's poorly-managed 401( k),' so these investors need people to be spending their hard-earned money so that they can pull in another million-dollar bonus.

The fact that people realize the ridiculousness of some of these products ($1k for a TV?  Really?) and choose not to spend on those leads to these Scrooges saying 'Bah, Humbug'

Please, PLEASE do NOT feed the trolls.

I never did understand the whole, more HDTV equal more HD system sold. As far as I know, Japan got the highest penetration rate of both Blue Ray and HDTV, yet the HD system get there ass raped even harder there than in the rest of the world.

One of the main reasons why Video games sell so well during hard times is the lasting appeal, or ones money's worth.

Instead of buying Movie tickets for the family in excess of say $35.99: 4 people + Drinks + Popcorn etc etc.. or going out to other places that cost money for just a few hours.

People would rather buy a video game that they can play with the family at home for hours on end.
