Forums - Sony Discussion - Why did SCEE delayed SOCOM?

This makes absolutely no sense whatsover, not only did they delay the game and NOT launch it in the crucial holiday season but they've now set themselve up to either have it delayed to obseletion or go toe-to-toe with the Killzone 2 juggernaut.

Just how many people will even bother trying this game much less buying it when a passing glance at the eye popping visual of Killzone 2 will annihilate any chance SOCOM has of commercial success?

I have never been a big fan of SCEE; I hate Reeves, I think PSN EU sucks compare to the NA and JP services, but this move just struck me as something that not even a total marketing neophyte would make on a bad day while doped up on crack.

they delayed socom because it has too many technical issues that make it borderline unplayable.

The majority of this has since been fixed with patches, even if the game launched with a mandatory install to play online (the only way to play), the outcome would have been far far better for both SOCOM fans and the game itself.

i can't comment my copy of socom is'nt comming until some days., but i already ordered it.

but the game is region free u can import it if you really want it.

Probs something to so with the supply of the head set

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

www.gameplay.com say it is releasing 3 weeks before Killzone 2, so it isn't competing with KZ2 really. There isn't really any competition, so as long as its advertised well (or at all) it should sell reasonably well.
