Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Quality of Nintendo's Games is Decreasing

Everyone is right. The Wii should not be compared to the PS3 or the 360. They are gaming consoles, whereas the Wii is a toy. The same criteria cannot be used.

I now await my ban for trolling.

Good day.

by saying this, you are becoming exactly what you say reviewers are.  you are saying their style of gaming is wrong and should enlighten themselves with the wii.

let's face it: game reviewers are in the same target audience of the ps3 and 360.  their natural affinity towards certain types of games suits the games that appear more on ps3 and 360.  by them expressing a higher approval of ps3 and 360 games is natural and i would be shocked if it were to change any time soon.

trust me, everyone should be happy with this gen.  hardcore gamers have their fill, same with mid core, same with casual.  everyone wins this gen.  how can anyone be displeased?

Please don't put statements i never wrote.. i never said or even hinted that game reviewers have the "wrong" style or taste

but the wrong "attitude"..they are paid to deliver a service to US consumers and nothing more..

Sometimes it's not their fault either..if i had to review a type of game i don't like i'm not gonna do it justice which implies the whole system is flawed. But other times they go way overboard... think of a certain wii music review by a certain editor as an example of an awfull way do deliver the consumer a service.. most people i read here liked and even loved the game, myself included.. how about giving the review to somebody else? guess that wasn't an option when ego comes in the way of professionalism.

Bottomline the current system is old and flawed and needs to evolve..this is my opinion and nothing more, could be wrong could be right................just like some of these snob core who got it wrong...very wrong.

90% of reviews are done by people from the PS2, PS3 and Xbox360 era who are hardcore players who could use a dual thumbstick controller in their sleep.
However most people actually can't be bothered to figure out how to play a game which uses 4 triggers, 6 buttons , 2 thumbscicks with buttons and a D pad to operate. !
This is where the Nintindo Wii rules - all the top Wii games use simple interfaces which anyone can pickup and play Wii Fit , Mario Kart , Wii sports etc.
Remember back when computers only had CLI interfaces like dos and Unix then along came the GUI and Mouse, and swept them away the keyboard and the old CLI's like dos in no time. There was MS Windows, MAC , Amiga GUI and Atari ST ,X Windows and others and the Command line/keyboard only users were suddenly the minority in an ocean of new users.
I think the WiiMote is just like the comming of the easy to use GUI to games consoles , suddenly anyone can play, and the old Keyboard or Thumbstick only controller users can complain all they like give the new fun/easy to play games low scores but fact is their thumbstick controllers are a relic of the past and will have to live as a shadow becide a better simpler more intuitive way to play.

So let the old reviewers give their HD thumbstick games 10's they can speak to my hand. !
After the GUI and Mouse arrived on computers anything without without these was basically destined for the bargain bin or land fill !.
Wii has made the competition completly irrelevant it is the only real next-gen console.

Well done, some very good examples threre..

This position is, well, not smart.  Taking this argument to its conclusion, a light switch would be the ultimate controler.  The Wii remote is much more complex than Pong's paddle.  'I have to make the bar go up and down by turning a wheel?  Oh noes I can't wrap my head around it.'  How is this any different than 'I have to pull the trigger when I swing back then let go when I want to release, after I hit this button to pick my angle, then hit another button to slide over?  I can't wrap my head around it.'  Take this argument to an extreme and this is casual gaming's ultimate destiny.  Pong is the only next-gen console!

lol, Nintendo fans. "Reviews don't matter since the Wii was invented!"

Who cares about quality when you've got sales, right?

What I find really sad is that you time and time again prove that you have understood nothing. I hope it is for your lack of reading the posts, rather than any lack of intelligence.

Otherwise, tons of very well made arguments in this thread.

It's obvious that the game "journalists" are trying to make Nintendo look bad. It's pathetic and it won't work, but I guess it gives fanboys a string to hold onto.

Hmm the opposite extreme of just one button perhaps you don't see how the wiiMote works it's about making things intuitive and easy to do for everyone a pointer and a button is a key feature of the WiiMote what could  be easier than to point at what you want and press a button !.

But try to do the same thing as the Wiimote with a thumbstick controller for most people is an exercize in fustration it takes years for a thumbstick controller player to reach close to the level of proficiency which you are given the instant you pickup a WiiMote or as is the case on the PC a mouse.

Any fool can make something even more complicated but it takes true genius to simplify the complex - the GUI and mouse did it for PC's and now the Wii games and WiiMote are doing it for game consoles.

I think the old reviewers fail to realise that they are hardcore users of specialist systems they are totally oblivious to the fact that most PS360 games are simply unplayable for 90% of the population, their views are completly biased becase they overlook this major flaw in these games. For the general person 90% of games on the PS360 and PS2 are just to difficult to bother with and the reviewers only represent the hardcore gamers and not the entire Market. The Wii though it's made it easy for everyone and they are all getting Wii's because anyone can play it.

PS3 number 1 fan

Well if you're going to use a standard based solely on an industry in HD Gaming's pockets then of course Nintendo games are going to look bad.

Also, don't mind Okey Dokey, you can't blame him. If nobody was buying your console of choice because they prefered a brand of gaming you can in no way relate to, why, you'd be pretty bitter too. He is usually a little more tactful in his jabs though...

I'm just bracing for each and everyone of his underhanded/passive-agressive jabs at all the Wii games coming out in 2009. The game pages and sales discussions are great for seeing his subtle brand of trolling.

Again, good summary..personally i realized what it was about when i saw my mother(who can't turn a game on, let alone play one) showing interest, playing and most importantly enjoying wii sports bowling.. to me that was incredible and im sure it has happend to a lot of gamers out there..

Having said that, the wiimote is just a tool and its the software like wii sports that really makes the difference.. So to keep in the context of the thread nintendo not only do make excellent traditional games for core gamers(galaxy,MP3,zelda,brawl ecc.) but also excellent games for everyone else. Unfortunaltely snobs will be snobs, in the media or elsewhere..
