Forums - Sony Discussion - Why would Killzone 2 outsell Resistance 2 (or Resistance 1)?

gta 2 and gta 3 have a huge difference between them: 2d vs 3d.

killzone 1 and killzone 2 have only a difference in graphics. they're the same game, only with prettier makeup.

so your comparison is unfair.

I've only played the first couple of levels of the first Killzone, but that's enough to disagree that graphics are the only difference between the two.

you're fighting the same enemy (helghast of course), and you're using the same weapons. You're in the same black and grey world, the same setting, the same war.

it's the same game.

Well damn, does that mean every Halo is the same? Is Resistance 2 the same as the first one? Is Gears of War 2 the same as the first one? Wouldn't that mean that all the Grand Theft Auto games are the exact same? What about Gran Turismo?

There's more to it than that. Maybe a similar concept, but there's more going on there then that.

I finished the original and it could have been a great game without the graphical flaws, the repetative voice acting, the repetative combat and AI issues. Killzone 2 looks to solve the issues with the graphics, voice acting and AI while greatly expanding the online capabilities of the game. Additionally, Killzone: Liberation added many new ideas that will likely carry over into Killzone 2 such as a greater variety of enemies and the use of vehicles which greatly reduced the monotony of the combat. Saying that Killzone 2 is simply Killzone with visual enhancements is ridiculous.

every halo adds a new dimension to the gameplay. new alien weapons. new vehicles. new big-ass enemies. etc.

resistance 2 has so many new things on it. it has improved weapon design. it has 60 player online. it has a class based coop. it has bigger than screen bosses.

grand theft auto, yes, has become stale. there's no question about that. gran turismo, also the same (but 5 will break the trend because of damage to cars and online racing).

killzone 2, however, as the previews and various gameplay videos have suggested, offers nothing different from part 1 except the graphics. no new weapons. no new enemies. no new colors even.

ROFLOL...time will tell, but based on what we have seen thus far, I'll have to say don't expect too much...

btw gta and gran turismo keep selling despite having little differences with their predecessors because they have MASSIVE fanbases. killzone has no fanbase to speak of because the first game was generic.

You've listed changes in the other games, yet you don't see ANYTHING that's being changed in Killzone 2?

32 player multiplayer? Cover mechanic in single-player that you, your allies, and enemies will use? Hit detection, animations, and physics? Not having the same dialog lines yelled every 5 seconds (COOOOMMEEE ON!!!!!)? All that on top of the new graphics and added contrast to the colors that don't look faded and foggy?

What previews are you reading?

why killzone 2 will sell. because every single friend on my PS3 said they are getting it with no debate, no second thoughts. i think that should tell you something

It should sell better because it is supposed to have better graphics and there isn't a big 360 shooter coming out at the same time to steal the thunder.

Heavens to Murgatoids.
