This Blu-ray thing is so cute. Stuggling against the clock to make it worth losing the gaming marked over, before it becomes obsolete. I don't think it's going to make it in time, lol!

I think you mean HD-DVD bro. ;)

I dont think he does. Sony never tried pushing HD-DVD at the cost of losing the gaming marketshare...

That is huge.

Blu Ray= Win. WHO CARES? Whats Blu ray got to do with the PS3 or SONY or anything? it only means there'll be cheap blu ray players in the coming future and consoles will be long to load than ever. And now, PC gamers will upgrade more just to install a 40 GB game.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

By 2013?? Blue Ray will be long gone and our discs will be way over 1TB!

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

Bet they manage it way before 2013.

Ok, Steroid, I'll start by letting you know that I would like as much as you for Blu Ray to do well.

1) It's already been revealed that these won't work on the PS3 (and so presumably not on any Blu Ray player came up) There was a thread created when this news was actually new, so that's how I know this.

Now that we know that these disks will require consumers to buy a new (and even more expensive) Blu Ray player, why would they bother? What can you do with 1 TB that you can't with 50gb. 2) The transition to some 50gb games is one of the reasons many devs are going out of business - if you try to fill the 50 gb, the game costs too much to make.

The only possible purpose of these would be blu ray drives in computers, but considering the current write speed 3) of Blu Rays, it is once again useless.

Sorry, I really am. Keep looking for good news for BluRay though :)

Post a link to back up your claims please.

1) It is your responsibility to search the site to make sure you aren't double posting, not mine. I can't remember what it was called, or when it was sorry, try 'Sony' disscusion

2) Personal Opinion

3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc - The PS3 has a 2x reader (72 Mbits/sec ie 9 Mb/sec)

Your own link says the following

"In December 2008, Pioneer Corporation unveiled a 400 GB Blu-ray disc, which contains 16 data layers, 25 GB each, and will be compatible with current players after a firmware update. A planned launch is in the 2008-2010 time frame for ROM and 2010-2013 for rewritable discs. Ongoing development is under way to create a 1 TB Blu-ray disc as soon as 2013"

No, it's not my resposibility to back up the statements you make nor sift through the blogosphere to search for information to contradict myself- I have a life. The evidence still stands. 400, 500, 100 TB Bluray disks are the wave of the future.

400, 500, 100 TB blurays? what kind of steroids are you on? cause they messing with your head.

Anyway the way of the future will be another technology such as HVD and eventually it will be digital distribution.

Whops I meant 1000 GB bluray disks. What you arent impressed with the 400 GB Bluray disk coming in 2009? Think about it 1 disk can hold 3-4 times the memory of a $150 Xbox 360 hardrive. That's win galore.

Bluray haters fail completely.

2,5 million standalone BR players in US alone? That's huge...

...By 2013 HVD will have come down in price, and it offers far more than 1024GB of data per disc. So why is this so amazing news?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
