Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii avalibility...

It went up to 4 out of 28(PS3 is up to 25/28). Targets have them for the big sale tomorrow. I expect the rating thing to go down back to less than 5% on Monday since thats what happened two weeks ago when the Wii was up to 11% then back down to 3%. The PS3 was at 30% something a week or two ago then went back up to more than 70%.

Kwaad: Target, Toys R Us, and Best Buy seem to get them for the most part in the SF Bay area. Fry's Electronics will occasionally get a few, but they're always gone quickly after they get their shipment. This is another rich area, so to speak. We also have the Sony Metreon (which would probably be close to a wet dream for you, given your fondness for all things Sony) and a large number of local but well-known game developers. This is definitely a gamer's area.

Out of curiosity, how's Wii availability showing now? I just checked the Target tracker I've been following. It appears that they're sold out now in my area except for one store, which has limited availability... Which basically means if you're not already in the store, you won't get one. The store's probably 30 minutes from where I am, I'm not even going to try...

Here's an interesting Craigslist posting: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ele/288309262.html It seems to support the theory that demand has yet to dry up. There are, as expected, a number of new postings there from scalpers selling the consoles for between $300-$500. How many consoles do you suppose it's going to take before the Wii becomes generally available? [Edited for a typo]

I could be wrong but I suspect that Nintendo shipped 500,000 Units to each of Japan, North America and Europe every month it would only take a few months before most display cases in stores had a decent supply ... I think at 350,000 to 400,000 units a month the Wii would stay at a pretty constand "sold out" state for the rest of the year ...

National avalibality is up to 15%. It wasnt a sunday sale. :P

PSN ID: Kwaad

I fly this flag in victory!

For the Target locations in my area, it was definitely a Sunday launch to go with the new circular. I'm willing to support the idea that the Bay area is an anomaly, the economy is good and there are a large number of people here. Still, there are clearly people lining up for the console. If it's different where you live it wouldn't surprise me - you have stated that they have been readily available since launch. That's a very different experience compared to what I've seen here.

How much Kwaad talks shit about the Wii compared to the love he showers on the PS3 you would think he has stake in Sony. So the Wii is becoming available in stores finally after nearly 4 months in the market, big deal. He acts like that is some big deal, I guess the "novelty" value of the Wii has worn off, the system is as good as dead. The PS3 was widely available everywhere about Christmas but Kwaad makes no mention of that whatsoever. Kwaad needs to take Phil Harrison's dick out of his mouth and realize that these are just video game consoles. It's absolutely retarded to get into public forums and argue about how one console is greater than the other. I'm married, have two kids, been playing video games for about 23 years, but video games are not my life. It's more of a way for me to unwind after a long day. They're just video games dude, get a life

Well the Wii is at 15% availability compared to 85% availability for the PS3 ... The unfortunate thing is these availability numbers do not say enough to be really useful; basically they have at least 1 Wii system at 15% of the stores that they polled ... If stores did hold stock until saturday/sunday this "availability" could disapear tomorow as more people walk past store displays and say "WTF? I thought this was sold out ... hey can I get a Wii?"

Keep enjoying your own local reality, Kwaad. From the various boards, it looks like the stores shipments sold out quick yet again. Looks like "supply

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
