Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii avalibility...

I was just looking at iTrackr. They have the Wii avaliblity at 13%. I checked it yesterday and it was at 7%, and the day before it was at 3%. Is it possible that the Wii has finally saturated the market? http://www.itrackr.com/details.aspx?pid=4

possibly. I was at Best Buy today, they had 4 Wiis and 15 PS3s in storage according to an employee. So...I'm sure they'll sell, but perhaps they're sticking around a little longer. They also had about 20 SixAxis controllers and 8 Wiimotes...it looks like they got a shipment today or something.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Sony has shipped alot of PS3's. Almost caught up with the Wii in total production count. LOL. There should be alot on shelves... especially considering it's price. But wow. If the wii stops selling out now. That might change my opinion on the Wii vs PS3. And Wii numbers. If 400,000 cant get sold in a month in america. That is bad news for Nintendo... At least if they want the 15million I thought they were gonna get :P EDIT: the PS3 launched with about 2 million less units produced than the Wii.

I know for certain that all the Target stores in the area state availability via a tracker I've been checking, but they're apparently not selling them until they open on Sunday. I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it; there are a lot of Target locations in the US. They've done this several times, and each time it's basically impossible to get one unless you're there early. If anyone here is on the market for a Wii, now might be the time. I'm going to try to pick another one up for a friend. I've said that every time Target does this though, and have always come back empty-handed.

I don't think you should start doubting the Wii if it stops selling out...it could be just a slow period, a surge in shipments, or it could really mean it's not selling out...either way, it's still selling fantastically, and I'll be the first "fanboy" to say it's still going to do better than the PS3 for a while.

Well I dont know about that... my itrackr area has 3 targets, and 0 wii. Does anyone else have any Wii in their area? are they all at target? EDIT: New York City has... 1 circuit city, 2 gamestops, 2 targets, and 1 compUSA. 2 of 5 targets in NYC. 3 of 7 targets in Boston. EDIT2: I would say target is only half the Wii's on the market right now. I seriously wonder if the Wii Hype is starting to drop down...

I'm in the SF Bay area; it might be different where you live, but I'd be surprised. It's apparently a company-wide policy to hold them until the circular is released. If Nintendo can finally keep enough of the consoles in stores to force the scalpers to sell them at at cost, or better yet a loss, I'd be happy. My wife and I have a number of friends who are waiting for it to become more widely available. EDIT (in response to your edit): I suppose Target getting half of the Wii systems would explain the difference between 7% and 13%.

That would be nice, I've seen dozens of scalpers with pics like that. It's frankly quite annoying, take a look at the prices on the Craigslist listings around here (as of 3/1/2007): http://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=wii%20console I for one hope the availability lasts.
