Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Fans, will you trade the Wiimote for Horsepower?

But one thing is for certain, it will never have games like MGS or Resident Evil 5 because the system is just not powerful enough.

 So sure about that?

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/244701.html

That was also on the Gamecube and PS2 first. Same game, less shiny. PS2 also had a lot of MGS games as well.

Anyways, If +100 Million Dollar Budget Hollywood special effects bore me, you can bet wannabe Hollywood directors like Hideo Kojima and his lastest nonsense will fair no better.

Mario Kart 1080p would be the exact same as Mario Kart 480p, except in a bigger resolution. And I absolutely hate to see a Mario game done like Banjo Nuts and Bolts, with it's awful cheap plastic look and everyone's angular and looks like a stiff toy.

So no, if anything I'd trade my 360's or PS3's horsepower for some new damn controllers. My favorite game's graphically on both systems is Braid on the 360 and upscaling Okami on the PS3.

As for your LCD, try adjusting your sharpness on your set to zero. That sometimes helps with jaggies. Otherwise not much can be done if you're already using component cables. Some HD sets do an awful job scaling non HD resolutions.

We all know the success of the Wii is squarely because of the Wiimote. Without the Wiimote, there is no way the Wii can compete with Sony and Microsoft. I am very happy for Nintendo's Success.

There's much more to it than that, but go on.

They seemed to do just fine on the original Playstation, but I take your meaning.

Also, don't we all wish a new Mario game or a new Zelda game will have HD graphics.

Meh. Not really. Not as big a fan of shiny things as I used to be.

So my question to Nintendo diehard fans is, if we can rewind the clock, do you wish Nintendo would just release beast of a console with HD graphics comparable to Sony an Microsoft with just a stardard control pad? Or you are perfectly fine with Nintendo decision to go with something new and get all the casual onboard but have xbox 1 graphics.

I'm good.

I wish Nintendo would have done both when they released the Wii back in 2006. I want my Zelda with Fable 2 graphics and Mario with Banjo graphics.  Oh, maybe with all the money Nintendo is making these days, they will finally give that to us in the Wii 2.

But I also like my Zak and Wiki, and my point and clicks, and all those other, smaller-budget quirky games that are getting squeezed out of the HD market.

Mario Kart Wii is still the most fun game this generation. Now imagine Mario Kart in 1080P!

My consistently placing last would look sharper? After I shell out the cash for an HDTV, anyways.

No.
I like my console being fun

My God imagine Mario Kart in HD.

*draws a rainbow above his head*

Wait a minute... it would look the same.

I wouldn't mind both, if it didn't cost more than an extra $50, and maybe a model with more storage for another $50-100.

That said, any more then a $50 increase in price, and I am happy with SD graphics. No way would I take graphics over controller change, even if it lowered the price by $60.

I don't really have anything to add that hasn't already been said, so I'll just answer the TC:s question.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Fuck No.

I have been playing games for over twenty years. Just upping the graphics does nothing for me anymore. I am more interested in new and innovative gameplay, which is why I am attracted to the Wii.

This really started in the 4-5 gen transition, which was really just a power increase in the consoles.

As your gaming taste mature, you want something new and original.

Its like in highschool, you want to date the hottest girl in school, even if she is a vapid moron, then when you get older, you would much rather date the cute, fun, smart girl than the hot idiot.

Max, none of that stuff means anything.

The GameCube was the best console last generation because it had the best games -- the quality of a GameCube game was usually better than what you seen on the other consoles. It didn't need any stupid gimmicks or hype, because the quality of the games for the system were enough to please it's fans.

Nintendo would still be my favorite of the three right now if it where like the GameCube instead the cool and hip thing of the generation.

It doesn't matter if a bunch of stupid people think it's for kids or not. The GameCube is a legendary console that has done more for gaming than the Wii ever will.

1. Agreed 100% it had the best controller last gen too.

2. I don't care if it is the hip thing, the only game I feel to be rushed by Nintendo this gen was Mario Kart, other then that there's a lot of gems already, SMG, NMH, SSBB, LoZ:TP, MP3, Okami, RE4 Wii Edition, and a good list of others, and to be honest it's a lot of quality in a shorter amount of time between games like it was for Gamecube.  I wouldn't dislike it for being "hip" I didn't dislike PS2 cause it was hip, it just had a lot of bland games and the Sony devs followed suit unlike PS1... =\

3. Agreed 100% but I believe Wii has done more, way more, Gamecube was a great console, but not my favorite from Nintendo.  Last gen I had almost got completely out of console gaming cause I got bored of the generic games on PS2 and Xbox, and Gamecube was my most played but there's only so long that I can play Smash between AAA games, so I was a huge PC gamer last gen, but when I saw the DS I knew Nintendo was onto something and was betting good money that they would do something as amazing for console gaming then I saw the Wii remote and it's functions and just saw all the possibilities, not all have been realized yet (damn you people and your non RTS making asses!!!) but a lot of things I thought of like 1:1 sword fighting is coming with Wii Sports Resort, Wii Sports Boxing is a blast, the VC is one of the best ideas ever (especially since no one has to pay full price for game remakes of old games on consoles) and the revival of old game ideas coming back and being made new again.

It's livened up console gaming again and is ahead of the curve by miles, you have studios tanking from the high development costs, publishers hyping crap games just so they don't die cause of the money they put into them, and the idea that you can't progress as a business without bringing in new demographics of customers or you'll get an industry that will just collapse much like the Comic book industry when all comics had to be dark and gritty and drawn almost the same way and appeal to the 14-28 demographic but people grow up and out of things I think this gen would have been fine if no one done anything but I would think a collapse would have happened next gen with no one to really stur things up.  So Wii has done a lot for the industry and gaming in general, and just wait till next year and we see what developers can really do with the hardware and controller, much like DS's booming 2006 year with awesome games Wii will have the same next year.

Basically you are asking "Do you regret getting a Wii as opposed to getting an HD console?".

I personally have both, and I don't want to give up either my Wii or my Xbox 360. They are different experiences. If I could only chose one, I honestly don't know which I'd go with, it's hard to say.

But I do not wish in anyway that the Wii was just another HD console. Why do you want a third console of the same thing? Do you not enjoy the new experiences that Wii brings to the table? I don't see why you would wish Nintendo didn't bring something new to gaming. If you just care for better graphics, then get a different console.
