Forums - Gaming Discussion - 360 all shooters????

Okay, so 17% of Xbox 360 games are shooting games. Now, what percentage of "good" Xbox 360 games (80%+ in www.gamerankings.com ) are shooting games? Perhaps a lot of the "bad" games, which happened to contain a small amount of shooting games, diluted the percentage. By the way, 25%+ of sports games just shifted the "too many shooting games" flaw to "too many sports games" flaw. I hate sports games. After a few years, they just clutter all video game stores, and pawn shops, and make finding the "good" games really hard. I would try to confirm if more of the "good" Xbox 360 games contain more shooting games, but I don't know how to filter out those Xbox Live Arcade games.

But I thought the power of PS3 was supposed to enable Pixar-level graphics.

^^ This is what's called a JOKE, for anyone who gets offended.  :)

That was my thought when I read this actually....

Honestly I think legend11 is correct in saying all consoles do seem to have certain genres thar are a significant portion of the library.  In a lot of ways I would hesitate to call this a flaw or error for the console and more of a defining feature.  Why shouldn't the 360 have a larger number of shooters if that is what the people who purchase it want?  Its not as if it is anywhere near all or even half shooters.

But anyways, I wanted to make a suggestion to one of you out there who is good with the software info.  I would love to see a new thread with the breakdown for each console by genre and what % each genres makes up of the library.  Then what % of each genre is when only games with above average reviews of 80+ are considered.

I realize that as a mod I should conduct myself in the most mature and reserved manner but... well... it's just that... you see... You're an idiot.

LOL BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN!!!!

I mirror your sentiments stof.

This argument is stupid, and the 4 games that are action / adventures still classify as 'shooters' to me they bundle into the same bucket when the target demographic comes to mind.

That's the whole arguement behind the 'shooters' comments, it's just saying that the 360's titles are too closed, and only really appeal to the hardcore 'shooter' fans, which is TRUE... who else is buying the 'nerds' system.

In normal society, the Xbox 360 is fkd because it's known as the 'geeks' console, you can't polish that turd any other way, so the only trick is to keep making good games that sell well on a lower install base, that's all they got.

So killzone2 is an idiot casue he really likes shooters and not more youger demographics oriented games. Shooters are some of the biggets games in North America, so are you saying the entire market is idiots ?

I dont see why hes still a mod after a comment like that, if he had such a big problem with the guys post he shouls have Pm'd him. Maybe the admin should moderate the mods, some people can be mods other should not.

I have to defend Stof here. A mod has feelings and "mistakes" like everyone else - he is allowed to say what he thinks and honestly: Killzones post was stupid. Just read the second line "not eveyone wants cutsy childish pixar type stuff"? What does this add to the discussion?

i dont think people are saying he's an idiot because he likes a certain thing or doesnt like another thing. instead i think it's because his post completely ignores pretty much everything in this thread.

here are why his post makes him and idiot.

- nobody had said there was something wrong with shooters. yet he posts like that is what everyone is saying.

- then he ends up lumping every other genre into 'cutsy childish pixar type stuff'. did anyone even demand for 'cutsy childish pixar type stuff'? no

I'm curious as to what is the percentage of 360 exclusive games are fps. I think that number will be higher than 22%

Yes, it's true that the 360 has more to offer than just shooter. However, the 360 does not have a diverse library at all. It's extreemly lacking in certain genre's; for example platformers, action-adventure, and RPG's. This is the main reason people say it's a console for shooter.

Really?  Ok I'll bite...  List the number of rpgs on the Wii and PS3 now and ones coming out this year.  I'm willing to bet the 360 will have more.

There are 15 JRPG's in development for the PS3 right now. I'm willing to bet that this is way more then what the 360 has going for it. Keep in mind that this will be the second year of the 360 life, yet there is still a lack of RPG's for the console. The two out right now are are Enchanted Arms and Oblivion, which are both on the PS3. Also, having more RPG's do not equate to having a more diverse library.
