But looks like as of 22nd December MS announced the japanese version of Gears 2.  No release date has been set yet and neither do they know if any adjustments such as censoring will occur.

The voice acting in the original was really good

I hear that in the Japanese version, Marcus will have a schoolgirl and a talking cat as sidekicks! Baird's going to have spiky "DBZ" hair too. Japan rocks!

Why would they even bother? It'll be lucky to get 100k sales over there, and translating/censoring it is more trouble than it's worth.

Do you realize that 100,000 would put Gears of War 2 in the top 7 games in Japan? Microsoft has been willing to port games like Fable, Crackdown, Forza 2, Project Gotham and others...Why not their 2nd best-selling franchise in Japan (that's a western game)?

Would be a good idea...resistance 2 has done an average job for the PS3, so gears 2 could do the same for the 360

considering gears 1(release in jan 17 2007) did about 60k in the 6 weeks and 80k liftime when the number of 360 in japan was about 300k, i say it did pretty good. now that 360 is about 800k, Gears 2 should be able to do over 100k in the frist couple of weeks and 150k life, that would be a success for MS.

Considering that Nintendo published Metroid Prime 3 in Japan even after the previous games in the series sold 70-120k, I believe you're wrong.

This is great news, now gamers in Japan can experience the awesomeness that is Gears of War 2!

Gears 2 is region free and there were photos a while ago showing Japanese stores selling Gears 2 with decent sized lines.
