Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo and the Hardcore gamer keeping a promise?

*sigh*

I hate fanboy lists.

Androo's list cuts down to about THIS for me

Metroid Prime 3
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl [ONLINE]
Zack & Wiki
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
Battilion Wars 2 [ONLINE ]
NiGTS: Journey of Dreams

Not bad but certainly not massive.

It's really different for everyone. Mine had more to do with first party sales of more traditional titles. If I were to make a list of games I considered good, it would be different. I like training games. I like to think that a game is any activity that is done as a diversion (m-w.com), so I don't personally get bent on hardcore or not hardcore. My thread is really trying to reassure old time nintendo fans that they aren't losing their favorite games...

Oh, btw, Nintendo has been making non-traditional games for a long time. In fact most of the reason why Nintendo has so much money is because they have always made new things, things that either people want or Nintendo helped to realize that they wanted. If you look at the history of Nintendo, you will see fans were/are always afraid of N's direction.

3D Mario, 3D Zelda,

Game about taking care of pet dogs,

Mario dressing up as a racoon

Mario riding around on the back of a baby dinosaur.

Baby mario on Yoshi's back,

Alien Flower herders,

Cleaning Robot Butler Simulator,

Kart Racing, Hover car racing,

Custom track builder,

Game where a plumber (who used to be a carpenter fighting an ape) saves the mushroom people by fighting a dragon and eating non-sentient mushrooms.

Game where you show other people your "Pocket Monster".

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Unless they changed it, Fire Emblem is due out on the 5th of November, a week before Mario Galaxy. I gotta get both of them. ;)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

I think it has to do with what 3rd parties release also, and they now have no reason not to release games on the Wii that appeal to the hardcore gamer.

I hate when people think what they personally like should apply as a list for everyone.

Androo's list is perfectly valid.  They are all games that can apply to hardcore gamers.  YOU may not want No More Heros or Soul Caliber Legends or MySims or.... but I don't see why that means they don't belong on a list of games coming out for hardcore gamers.

1. Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn comes out Novemember 5th 2007 not 2008

2. Zelda: TP is not a port seeing as it came out on the Wii first (yes it was built on the gamecube but the fact that it was released first on the wii and then later on the GC changes things.)

The number of "Hardcore" games on the Wii isn't the problem; it's the Wii-motes lack of ability to play them right. The Wii-mote just isn't made for those type of games. It doesn't have the proper amount of buttons or the 2nd analog that it takes to play the game right...

That is the whole point of the Wii.  That you don't need 30 buttons or three analog sticks to make a great game.

Resident Evil 4 says "Hi" & MPC says"see you soon".

Do you actually have any basis for this argument or did you just post it because you want it to be true?

Actually it's that you're too used to a 20-year-old input device known as the "Gamepad". This "Gamepad" has a monopoly over conventional games. This is a problem. The Wii Remote will end the oppression and take us into a new era of realistic, immersive control. It will encourage us to think of new genres and franchises that appeal to casual and hardcore gamers alike. Dual analog sticks? Did Super Mario 64 (N64), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64), Goldeneye 007 (N64), Resident Evil 4 (GC) and Metroid Prime (GC), some of the greatest games of all time, need a second analog stick?
