xbongox said: OH AND ONE OTHER THING..... 10 times as many PS3s were bought to be SOLD ON EBAY.... so put that into your head when you think about ps3 sales. ALOT of people were not buying it to play it, they were buying it to make money off of it
10 times as many what? Not 360s. 40,000 Xbox 360s were sold right after launch on Ebay versus 25,000 PS3s. Both systems sold the in the same ratio of launch units to units sold on ebay.

I'll have to agree with Kwaad's numbers here. Because the subscription fee for XB360 is more than personal preferences. This is one of the core feature of the XB360, and this feature is there in every game for XB360. That means that if you don't have the Gold (or whatever its name) membership for XB360, you actually lose a lot of the console appeal. So with all the emphasis put on online play, you can't write the subscription fee out of the way without removing lots of XB360 advantages. Look at mrstickball : lots of praise of XBL, but he can't even use it ! So what's the point ? Must be what is called a fanboy.

Like I said - I can use silver. I can download any game I want to, download any patch, get all kinds of freebies, and download anything I want. Does having to pay $2.91 a month suck for online? Yes, kinda. But I'm already paying $30 for internet a month. $2.91 a month isn't that bad. And if I really did decide to play online alot, half of the games I'd buy to play online already come with free 1 month and 3 month subscriptions to XBL for free. So lets look at the numbers even if you want to complain about a gold card: $34.99 - 1 year Gold Subscription x 5 years (the max that you'd want to be playing 360 on XBLA for) = $174.95 Add that in on a core with a $100 free gift card + a free 1 month subscription to XBL Gold, a $24.95 memory card, and you have a grand total of $399.90 for being able to play online for 5 years + a mem card. Again, if you want to crunch numbers, atleast get the numbers right. XBLA is $34.99 for a year. Thats $2.91 a month. Add in the fact that your games get a bit of free content that PSN doesn't give out, and you make the money back. Add in the fact you get a far superior online network versus Playstation's, and you get what you pay for. Is free better? Absolutely. But atleast at $2.91 I'm getting a better system, and not a worse one!

I get free content upgrades for my games. RR7 has tons. Can you download demos and save them on that memory card? I hate to say it, but it sounds like one of us got a nerve on you there. 400+175=575$ That's 25$ cheaper than a PS3 and you dont get NEAR as much HD support. You obviously know very little about the PS3's online service.

Ok, once this thread devolved in to a price war, I went from reading to skimming, so I'm sorry if someone has already posted this. But wasn't the 360 still suffering massive stock shortages at this point in the game? I mean isn't it early for comparrisson's when one of the console's sales were only limited by how many they could produce? Note, that doesn't mean I'm saying either way who's "winning", I'm just saying that these numbers don't say who's "winning" either.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Yes, you can download demos to memory card(s). You can download whatever the card will support size wise. Your comparing a $400 + $175 fee, despite the fact that 360s aren't selling for $400 everywhere anymore (even for a premium). Many stores are still allowing the $100 or $50 gift cards which significantly reduces the price. Exactly what "hd" support are you even talking about? All games are in 720p or higher. Most PS3 games aren't in the fabled 1080p that they were supposed to be in. We get HD movies and trailers and other things of that nature. Are you reffering to the fact that the 360 doesn't have HDMI output? Because last time I checked, only the higher end PS3 had that, and the 360 still has the VGA output to allow an HD signal for $40. I paid $40 for the VGA cable to allow HD gaming. With a PS3, you still need a expensive TV to get HD-quality. So again, what HD are you talking about? Also, there is plenty of free content out there. Ridge Racer 6 has plenty of free content - I believe there are somewhere near 20 free cars for download + free maps as well.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

In the end, it doesn't really matter if the PS3 is outselling the 360 at launch (which it seems to be due to a greater supply). The PS3 needs to outsell the 360 today in order to actually catch up. Both systems have some heavy hitters this year, it'll be interesting to see what happens this holiday season.

Actually, Ive done quite a bit of research besides that article, but I decided to post that link to shoot out some ideas. And for all of you people who think I am a xbox 360 fan, the funny thing is, I own a wii... SUCKERS

The price isn't the greatest problem for the PS3 in Germany. The greatest problem is the lack of software and that the Wii is selling good over here (it doesn't sell that well because Nintendo has a bad image over here). Sonys consoles are well like and nearly all people I know want to buy a PS3 sooner or later (probably later). Some are consedering to sell their 360s. I think it will be well received even at that price point. 600€ isn't that much money for ze germans. I am really not exaggerating.
