Sony should have learned from PS2 and Xbox 360. Make it faulty and more people will buy it.

ROFLOL...you're in such a high level of denial...it's TOO funny.
DTG said: I'll agree that if you have kids, you'll find yourself with considerably less disposable income. Most parents however buy their kids bunch of useless toys, games, etc all the time at the expense of their own entertainment. If you postponed that furby and barbie house for a couple of months and bought a few crayons and a stack of paper in the meantime you'd already be much closer to buying a ps3. I mean you're only buying 1-3 consoles every 5 years, I'm not telling you to quit buying presents for your children. However better planning would afford you to save 399 on a ps3 by the same logic that you can spend 500+ a year on your childs (non educational) junk. Also, people don't always go for the cheapest electronics. Look at the ipod. It's probably one the most if not the most expense mp3 player on the market...and the best selling one. Same with the iphone. Price isn't the sole determinant of uptake. Even if you're making minimum wage and picking up checks from the government you should be making over 15 grand a year. Save up 30 bucks a month (8 dollars a week) and you have your ps3 in one years time. Which would be by last Christmas, instead of complaining in late 2008. Heck, even a young, unemployed teen gets more than 8 dollars a week in allowance, |
So taxpayers should pick up the tab so that Sony can boost their numbers?

Aside from your first paragraph (and its tone), another good post. I'm looking for the truth and I'm looking for people to agree that people who spend money to replace something that can be done for free are idiots. |
I would never ever replace my xbox by buying a new one when its free. Thats just stupid.
oh my god ,thits post is real ,?
To say bilges as these, on behalf of fanatics of sony, nintendo or Microsoft does not contribute in anything.
Serious so idiot ,as like saying that the people buy ''wii'' because it is a toy.
Or that the people buy ps3 only for the blu ray movies.
is funny and pathetic...
People who are just posting no content posts like green_box, do you remember the amount of RROD and people saying they are on their 2nd, 3rd, or even 5th+ xbox (I remember someone posting they got RROD so many times).
People are actually stupid, if you didn't know, I could walk outside and hit a stupid person blindfolded with a rock. I have no doubt many people brought another xbox if their xbox messed up on them. I think 1mil units is a meaning full amount of redundant purchases, I think it is less then that so I don't think it is a big deal. I do think thousands were redundant though.
I don't think this can be used in a sales debate but shouldn't be dismissed in a whim either, just by the amount of posts in this forum alone about RROD- think about the other millions of xbox users.

On the other hand, how many of those redundant purchases returned to the used market, making the redundancy pointless. If the console ends up in another unique owner's hands, it's not an issue.

@OP - I bought a 2nd PS3 while I was waiting for my yellow light of death PS3 to be fixed by Sony. It wasn't a big deal at the time and now functions as a game machine/blu-ray player for my bedroom. :)
Some people are just impatient.
Bethesda's Todd Howard "if install base really mattered, we'd all make board games, because there are a lot of tables."
Feel free to add me ...

I dont want to be fanboy anymore...Why? it takes to much work but i will call on ppl on there B.S!!!:)
to DTG-- Umm people are willing to drive 20 Km out of there way to save 1$ on canned corn, The price always matters, and 200$ is 1-2weeks of grocers for family of 4, and a gaming console is a luxury that most people in the USA, Canada and the rest of the world don't have, and many do not want.
to the main point:
No: Every console has stories like this, in my area the PS3 had a high defect ratio at launch, some people bough another one to tide over until the warranty was good, then either sold the other one off on eBay or kept it as a "Back up" and in one case, yes they threw it out.
Finlay to everyone: Ice cream is pretty good, unless you do not like it. Can we agree to that?
