Forums - Sony Discussion - The reason LBP fails...

@KylieDog - If you look at what is included in the MGS4 content pack, you would realize that you couldn't make most of those items. I've played some of the MGS4 levels and they were creative, but they are not of the quality of this paid DLC.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Why are people selectively complaining about LBP dlc? MM have released both free and paid dlc. If you don't think it is a value, then don't buy it. You don't need to come to this site and pretend like the whole concept is offensive.

If you really want to complain about dlc why don't you look at some of the Rock Band releases. $8.50 for the going Country pack? That's terrible.

So we need to find every DLC thread and post in it before we can post in this one?

Is that really your interpretation of my post?

I was pointing out how lame it was.  I don't have a problem with DLC in general, but I think there are some legitimate issues with the way Sony and MM are handling it.

Your issue with paying for this amazing pack of content isn't legitimate.  So where are your legitimate issues?

My issue is with the short (but fun) single player campaign.  Trying to sell me more levels after a 6 hours campaign is bogus.

I've checked again just now, and I can find at least three popular MGS levels, that apparently haven't been deleted. There are bound to be more all around.

Complaining about it being deleted while there still are levels of that nature seems a tad overboard

And others complaining about something which adds a whole lot more than 3 maps for quite a deal less, .... shame shame.

i guarantee the people bitching in this thread either A) shouldnt have LBP anyway and dont "get it" they probably have no levels created, no friends online and cant just spend an evening platforming with buddies....they dont "get it" or B) havent watched the video....

Please, if you watch that video of merely the gun and realize we get that tool as creators and can equip it in all existing LBP levels and future levels and STILL dont think its worth 6 bucks, youre an idiot.

@KylieDog - It seems like your main gripe is with the moderation and not necessarily paid DLC. I agree that the way in which MM originally talked about LBP would lead you to believe that you would be free to create whatever you wanted and that is no longer the case. A car full of lawyers trying to "protect" their IPs are probably responsible for this shift in focus.

I look forward to purchasing the MGS4 dlc.

People blow the whole moderation thing out of proportion.

Sometimes I question if some of these people complaining have actually taken the time to play online and do a quick search for copyrighted material such as Metal gear Solid, Ninja Warrior, Bioshock, God of War, Super Mario Bros., Lord of the Rings, Mirror's Edge, Matrix, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Gradius, etc... because I find these each and everytime I log onto LittleBigPlanet and check "Cool Levels". Some of the ones I just mentioned have been on the first page for God knows how long now.

I also must ask, are the ones complaining about the moderating actually making and publishing their own levels? If not, then what reason do you have to complain? Not just that, but at least this way people need to be original and stops us from getting non stop copy/paste level designs.

cant you create anything you want and not load it online?

It does NOT violate copyright. That is horseshit fed from MM.

Do you know what parody is? Ever see comodians dress up like celebs and copy them? Adverts and music videos copying hollywood movies? Fan art in general and so on?

Making MGS or whatever levels for ourselves is perfectly fine.

They only reasons they are deleting it is what I posted, so they can charge for it instead.

Don't be so blind, they are trying to pump money from people for what CAN AND SHOULD be free.

Doesn't sound like they'll be doing any further modding of MGS4 either - from an interview with MM on IGN today:

IGN: You must be quite excited to see what the community's going to make of the additions. It surely won't be long until someone's recreated the entire Metal Gear series...

Kareem Ettouney: You'll get very hardcore fans who will be busy creating their own versions of their favourite Metal Gear things, then you'll get other people mixing and matching with other things. There could be a huge Metal Gear mech piñata mixed with the Day of the Dead festival themes. That's the beauty of the imagination of people – they've been creating stuff that is very unpredictable. Some people take it in a gaming direction, some people take it in a cinematic direction, but definitely we expect a lot of exciting levels.
