Don't slim versions usually release at a high price than the current model?

Would be cool if Sony could pull it off. I have some major doubts about the source. If they said holiday 2009, it would atleast be more believable.

Re-Engineering a product cost a LOT of money

A price cut on a product that is losing money is a LOSS not a GAIN

This can only be true if Sony Sacrificed the workers to some dark God in exchange for the Slim PS3's Plans, Re tooled factories and a way to dig themselves of of the crumbling Japanese economy.

I am sorry to be so harsh, but I do not think it is time to get our hopes up.

PS3 slim will be like a bleeding money type of thing for them. See when you get a nose bleed? Yeah thats what its gonna be for sony but instead of the nose bleed stopping, this is gonna go on until Sony are gonna be forced to stop production. Seriously people a £200/$300 price will simply kill sony.

I doubt it will happen that early. Even late 2009 already seems earlier than usual. I'm sure they're anxious to launch a slimline, but the timing doesn't seem good for this rumour.
