Forums - Gaming Discussion - I would buy console X if...

I would buy a PS3 if it was $250.

Darn I have to wait a while for that to eventuate.

GT 5, UnCharted 2, God of War 3 and some more games worth buying on PS3 will be available when it drops to $250.

  • I own a Xbox360 and a PS3.
  • I would buy a Nintendo Wii if it was HD.

I will buy any console if there are enough games to justify the price.

if ((average price of games * number of games I want) >= price of the console) then I buy the console.

So if all the games you wanted were half retail on one console and you wanted equal numbers of games just as much on another console which cost just as much, and they were twice the price. You'd go with the console with expensive games because it fits the equation better? ^^

Tease.

PS3 if it had BC
3D0 if I could actually find an FZ-1 for a reasonable price
Saturn if I could get some NiGHTS controllers for it
NTSC-US model SNES if I could find the person I sold it to in order to buy it back ;_;

I hate that rule to keep myself safe.  Obviously if a console has a crapload of games I want I really don't need that formula.  The equation is mainly there for new or newer systems.

For instance, at launch the Wii had 6 or 7 games I wanted at or near launch (within a month or two) so I got a Wii at launch.

The 360 didn't have anywhere near the amount of games I wanted at launch and didn't have the games until about a year after launch (and it just barely squeaked by).  When it finally fit the formula, I got the console.

The PS3 still doesn't fit the formula for full price (currently, it has two games for me that I can't get elsewhere) but luckily I got that one for free.

I wonder if the console companies ever actually do market research of this nature, basically asking people who own competitors systems "what would it take to get you to buy our console" because it seems like it would be highly beneficial.

I only ask because when you see especially the Sony and Nintendo exec's talk it always seems like "this is the direction we're taking, and and that's that".

The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.

If they were all a dollar.

PS3 if I had money and it had PS2 BC.
360 If I had the money

If any console got a KR game I would buy purely to get the KR game.
