Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is it just Me or has There been a Decline in the Quality of XBOX Live?

Is it just me or has there been a decline in the quality of xbox live recently?  I logged on this morning hoping to find a great new demo this week, and I have had my fingers crossed for a New Prince of Persia demo for about a month now, and when I signed on this morning and went to see if there was a new game demo up, what was the first newly released game demo?  Too Human.  Now, I thought that I had downloaded the Too Human demo last August.  I enjoyed it well enough and it certainly wouldn't have put me off from buying the game.  It had its moments.

On the other hand, I don't want to spend 6 hours downloading a Too Human demo that I might have already played, so is this a brand new Too Human demo that brings out new favorable points about the game that critics missed or is it just the old one?  And if it is just the old one, then why is it posted as a new release?

Also, why hasn't there been a demo for a AAA quality game like Fable II, Prince of Persia or Gears II posted on XBOX Live in a such a long time?  The most recent demos have been for B quality 360 games.

I suspect you are talking games wise only...not about features such as netflix and NXE which kick ass.

Demos in the last 2 weeks - Sonic Unleashed, Red Alert 3, Dead Space...hardly B quality.
Lets not forget 1 or 2 xbox live games every week. Community games which get updated daily...

Oh...btw...Resident Evil 5 demo(exclusively) is playable on any xbox if you're smart...not just Japan.

So I believe my statements have convinced you or anyone else asking about the quality of releases on xbox live.

Stop the torrents and maybe your downlods will go faster. 6 hours? Whats the demo size, 10 gigs? lol

As for Xbox LIVE, you do know that its not Microsoft who determines demos, many times even for their first parties. Personally I haven't noticed much of a change in LIVE.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Dash of Destruction is coming to XBLA free this week. Bomberman LIVE is getting a heavy discount...And that's just the past 2 days.

If anything, MS is trying to ensure that XBL is even usable during Christmas, because the past 2 have been bad because MS hasn't upgraded servers a whole lot...Maybe they know that a Fable 2 demo would swamp the Christmas servers?

XBL quality is fine. A bad week on XBL is the best week on PSN or WiiWare, so why worry?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I was talking about games.  I wasn't talking about netflix.  And I like NXE.  Dead Space was a B+, Red Alert 3 is a C+ at Game rankings and Sonic is a D-.

I guess I could look up how to download RE5.

Still doesn't explain how a four month old Too Human demo is a new release.

Where I live a co-op is in charge of the internet and there is no Windstream, etc, I have to pay $30.00 a month for 512k dsl.  I think the demo size is 1.2 gig and that equals out to about six hours on a 512k connection running at full speed.

     Okay.

New releases seems a bit weird to me since the NXE.

There's tons of stuff on there that ain't new.

It's all a lie.

I could argue against almost every point you made except for Dead Space being a good game and being able to get RE5 demo.  The rest is EASY to argue against.

But I'm not here to bash Xbox Live..I don't think it's all that bad.  I don't download anything, all I use it for is playing multiplayer games and last time I checked, they still work..so I don't see the point in the OP saying Live is declining over a demo.  Based on the quality of a lot of demos vs. the end product, you might be glad you didn't get a demo for some games.

You're probably right.  Still, I would like to see more game demos.  Like Golden Axe Beast Rider something from the Square games would be nice.  I would really love a Prince of Persia demo.  I'm unemployed and don't have any job prospects, so Game demos make up the bread and butter of my gaming.
