Forums - Nintendo Discussion - A brief story of Wii's at my job (Best Buy).

First, this is what Best Buy's circular looks like this week.

Awesome, eh?

Our store received several dozen Wii's late last week in order to stock up for this weeks ad. The sale started on Sunday. By Sunday evening, my Best Buy was out of Wiis.

And not just Wiis. We're out of Wii Fit, Mario Kart, and Guitar Hero: World Tour (both the Guitar Kit and the Band Kit). I just don't understand how they sell out so fast, especially since we're never out of the other two consoles.

Unfortunately, we won't be getting another shipment 'til Wednesday. I know it's anecdotal, but I think it's safe to assume that we'll see a Wii-concentrated top 5 this week and another extremely high number or units sold, probably second this season only to the Black Friday week.

What do you guys think about how fast the Wii is selling and how that affects supply/demand, particularly when Wii development is upwards of 2 million units a month? I don't think there's much surprise when it comes to software, but feel free to share your thoughts.

Any thoughts on the circular and Best Buy's knowledge on how to make money?

Amazing job predicting what's already on the top right of the home page.

I'm talking about the week ending December 13th. I know it's pretty much obvious, but what's the harm in saying it?

How are SSBB, SMG, and Wii Music selling? I'm curious.

I personally haven't seen many copies of SSBB or SMG go out lately. I've seen several copies of Wii Music sold. It's still in stock. Wii software is selling great, though. Tiger Woods sells great at my store. I've also seen Resident Evil 4 sell decently these past few weeks.

What a shame, Super Mario Galaxy is one of those Wii games that simply blew me away.  It's so hard to be in any type of negative mood playing that game.

ha i saw the same ad for best buy today sitting on our couch. i wonder if that is the exact looking ad all across america

and it always amazes me with the Wii.  I go to best buy probably at least once ever other week, or 26 times a year.  And have seen a Wii only 2 times in my life there.  1 time they were just setting them out, forgot to and brought them from back when my friend asked if they had any.  When they brought it out my friend and two others standing by grabbed one each.  And then another time I saw 2 Wii's sitting there like 2 months ago on a sunday.

And unless I have wanted a certain type of 360 (bundle/model) or PS3 I could have grabbed one any time I was ever in best buy, except of course for their first christmas's.  Heck even halo 3 release there was a shit ton of 360's sitting around.  How did Nintendo do it.

normal consumer may got different taste from many of us in VGChartz.Sadly that they don't understand how great SMG is. :3

And thanks for your information TC. :D
