This game doesn't have "Wii" or "Mario" in its title...it was destined to fail on the Wii

Neither does "Guitar Hero" or "Resident Evil" - neither of which failed.  Go troll somewhere else!

Yes, because Guitar Hero and Resident Evil are also brand new IP exclusive for the Wii.... wait a second.

Third party exclusive title being ignored by casual audience the in absent of any Nintendo paid ads featuring "Wii would like to pay"?? Is this really shocking?

Nice qualifiers you've got going there. If you add enough conditions, you can eliminate every game that defeats the point you're trying to make!

Oh, and patjuan32? Only Vesperia is an "exclusive title," so you can't hold that against the guy. Plus, it's not a "new exclusive IP." Behold, the power of making irrelevant arguments!

Oh, and don't even try to bring up good-selling 3rd party exclusives like Boom Blox, No More Heroes, etc. etc. Despite the publishers considering them successes, you can't prove that they weren't "being ignored by (sic) casual audience." He's got you there too!

Aha! you say triumphantly, thinking you can turn the tide by pointing to one of the many third-party exclusive games that have failed on other consoles, including his beloved PS3 and PS2. But before you even start to mention Haze, or the awesome but horrificly bombing Valkryia Chronicles, you'll come to the stunning realization that those games don't count because...because...um, hang on a sec, I'll think of something...because we're not talking about any other console but the Wii now, so kindly STFU.

Yeah, that's it.

Don't f*** with a master, patjuan!

Dude, What the heck are you smoking and what are you talking about? Who cares if he was talking about exclusives. The fact of the matter is that he was talking about a game failing at retail on the Wii. This is where my point came in. I showed him games that failed on HD platforms and The Highest selling HD platform in North America, The Xbox 360. I could go own and mention games like the Darkness, Unreal Tournament 3, and others if you want. Still who cares if the game is exclusive? It still bombed and that is the whole point of the argument.

Secondly, most 3rd party Wii games are exclusives while the PS3/Xbox 360 have very few exclusives. This is why an argument just about exclusives really does not make sense. Do you wish to make threads comparing the lack of retail sales for Party Babyz versus some Xbox 360 exclusive? As I said, the argument is about games failing at retail.

Next time, Please post before you get drunk and not after. It will make you post more logical.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

This game was already release? I didn't even know.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

PS:

I believe you should say

English is not my native language

Rather than saying

"(english are not my first language also)"

I disagree.  I think he SHOULD have said "englosh am isn't my first language not too."  I would've laughed harder.

On topic:  Mushroom Men didn't do well because Bowser kidnapped their princess again.  Everytime he does that, the Mushroom Man economy suffers.  Plus, Mario ate at least two copies of the game.

I don't know if that is sarcasm. My sarcasm detector turned out to be a frog exaggerator :(

Anyway, I believe this is the time to put in the fault tree.

I started to google now, to check if I should have written "I believe you ought to have said" instead of "I believe you should have said"

Was that intentionally made to fool me, or did I just do that myself?

The last trailer looked pretty cool (some nice ideas with the weapons and the main character finally had a face) but seriously who wants to play as a mushroom?

I'm not meaning to be sarcastic but yes - I really DO want to play as a mushroom! That was the thing that made me interested in the game, and then I stayed interested because it looked fun, had quirky ideas, and had good reviews etc.

I'm still waiting here in the UK for it to be released. It was due to be released on the 21st of November and on 24th October Official Nintendo Magazine gave it a good review and awarded it 86%. Now it has been delayed until 6th March I wonder how many people who were interested when they read the review will actually remember to pick it up. I don't know if similar things happened in the USA but it doesn't help a game with potentially only niche appeal and a low profile.

I don't think I've even seen the game in stores anywhere.

GameCock really needs to put some money into marketing if they want successful game sales.

It worked for crap like Carnival Games.

I chalk a lot of it up to malaise on the part of Wii owners. Which is in large part due to a second life. The last thing they actually had to be thrilled about was Kart, and that was all of nine months ago. Since then the conversation kind of drifted away. Now the more you look at the profiles the more you see second consoles making the scene, and the more you see games filling their lists.

The people are still there that a year ago talked about Wii games non stop, but they are supporting a secret habit now. They found that the Wii could not sustain their core gaming needs, and thus they bought into a second platform to fill that need. Not that they are screaming it from the mountains, but then again they have over two years of games to catch up on.

Anyway it isn't the casual players that are going to move a title such as this. It will need the core players if they can pry themselves away from their high definition consoles to do so. How many times in this thread did you read it that someone did not even know about this title. How can they keep it in mind if other posters go months in between even mentioning it. I am not saying this is all of the problem, but it sure as hell makes up a large part of the problem.

Whose fault is it? The marketers, mostly. Word of mouth alone does not make a million-seller, and the developers failed to push this game.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
