Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mushroom Men Spore Wars bombed who's fault?

Monster Lab has bombed too

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Well it's true, apart from the review on IGN, I haven't seen or heard anything about the game, at all.

Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee   3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046

Maybe the wii is the physical demonstration of traditional video game marketing, its wasted because people don't shop around and therefore don't know it exists.

At least MS, Sony and Activisions advertise much more than any of these other under performing studios.

Weird niche game with no (?) ads and in a season full of good games releasing. Who'da thunk?

Maybe it's the fact that you play as a mushroom that put many people off! I'd prefer human or anthropomorphic animals over shrooms anyday!

I really didn't expect this game to sell well at all upon release, but I wouldn't be surpised if it picks up a bit.

Infact, I'm going to add it to my tiny Wii sales opening numbers thread just to see if it's able to pick it up a bit on word of mouth

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Well remember Dewy? Ding, dong... that game now sold over 100.000. Not good but not that utterly bad considering the lousy sales at the beginning.

I've been on the lookout for Mushroom Men for quite some time and am waiting for the game to arrive in my mailbox. I wish everyone would do the same as me, checking release schedules, writing down on a calendar and as soon as it releases to check out the review scores That's how I buy games....and never miss a release. If I can't afford it at that moment, I write the name on a list for later purchases.

Unfortunatly IMO this is because casual ignorance... shore, the game wasnt all that well advertised, and its not a AAA+ game, but its still a solid effort from what Ive seen... and Im afraid this game wont be the only good, but overlooked Wii title... games like Madworld and NMH2 have a fair chance to be overlooked to :(

Mushroom Men did really bad in US last week with around 2000 in sales. When you look on gamerankings you see that only 6 reviews are avaible. 4 of them are almost all over 80 (IGN's one score is 79) what means it is a good game defenetly deserving more than 2000 of first week sale.

Now how a GOOD unkown unconventional game from an unkown devloper is suppose to sell if even gamers on the web does not have access to information on it. The point it that it seems to me that most gaming sites prefer reviewing blockbuster games that more people will read than somewhere more indie or low profile games. I think thre is some people here not doing their job correctly. People complain about the lack of new ips but its not maybe companie's fault only.

I'm getting Mushroom Men next week but still, the fact that it completly lacks hype is very sad. What do you think??

(ps sorry for my writting mistakes English is not my first language)

How do you know it did less than 2.000 ???

It seem it wasnt tracked by VGchartz
