Don't Worry.....Be Happy

WiiKart, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Galaxy, retro games (Super Mario RPG, Sonic).

Wii code: 4679-4491-5808-6319,MKWii: 4296-3394-2843; Animal Crossing Wii: 3008-1736-4670.

Why I love the Wii:
I love the Wii for the same reason I loved all past Nintendo consoles; its a high quality videogame system featuring some of the best games ever created.

The Wii, however, might be the Nintendo I've invested the most time and money on, following the N64 pretty closely. Call it corny, but I have a pretty big emotional attachment to the system. Ever since my best friend came all the way from New Hampshire to spend the holidays with my family and brought his his I've held the system on very high regards.

The pointer is arguably one of its best features. It makes everything from typing a letter to shooting and aiming a breeze. It has spoiled me so much that I can't stand traditional joystick writing and aiming. Its sad that very few developers have taken advantage of this.

I love the waggle. True, it has yet to be refined (something I hope the motion plus does), but I feel more satisfied moving the controller like crazy rather than tapping buttons.

Its software has been very, very good, despite what any bitter fanboy will tell you. In its first years we have already gotten great entries on classic Nintendo franchises, and it promises to both return to them soon and bring back classic franchises (Punch-Out FTW!). Super Mario Galaxy might be the best Mario game in terms of story, music and presentation. Yes, I mention story because Rosalina is perhaps one of the most fascinating new Nintendo characters yet. The first time I played Galaxy I got chills at how much love it was put into it.

The Wii has also been the home to some historic events, like the meeting of Mario and Sonic, both in "M&S at the Olympic Games" and "Super Smash Bros. Brawl". Something like this could only be dreamed of back in the day, and the Wii is the first console to experience such epic win.

The Miis are also fantastic, and I just can't imagine the system without them. They add an emotional depth to the games that use them. I have a lot of friends living in the US, and I miss them greatly. So whenever I play Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii Play or Mario Kart Wii and see their Miis in the background or as a statue I get a tad emotional and smile. There's also a surprising amount of depth to the creation of Miis, all thanks to the "Check Mii Out" channel.

Finally, there's the third party games. Once more, despite what the industry and fans say the Wii has indeed received some amazing support. "No More Heroes" is extremely inventive with its character, humor and gameplay, "Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games" was a pretty damn solid multiplayer title, "NiGHTS 2" was very fun and hell, even Red Steel provided some fun moments, even with its clear flaws.

It breaks my heart seeing the system get so much hate for not being exactly like the 360 or PS3. Its a system that is trying to bring back the concept of gaming as a social activity rather than a solitary enjoyment and broke any stereotypes gaming may have enforced. Its cool to play videogames now because they can be fun, educational and enlightening.

The Wii isn't perfect of course, but after the disastrous GC era its great seeing Nintendo rebound in the grandest manner possible.

Around the Network

Mario kart Wii, is the best in the franchise. Period.

Mario Galaxy is the best 3-d Mario imo.

And Metroid Prime 3 was pure epicness.

Also downloading old nes, snes, n64 game is kick ass.

That is all.

Some of the best games I ever played!!!

Still this holiday was horrible (I know no negativity, but I'm a rebellion)

That it brings together my two favorite companies: Nintendo and SEGA, so harmoniously. Between them, the kind of software that i want just keeps on coming. Software with charm, style over realism, the occasional something to feed my inner graphics whore (The Conduit should keep that thing quiet for a while, it's only just waking up from the satisfaction of Galaxy), and most important of all: replay value that doesn't involve online play.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
