Forums - Sony Discussion - Well I got "Home", and WOW

Home looks like a flop.
Pretty bad reviews from users.

I won't download it.

Home is a giant disappointment for me. The one hope I had was clubs, and then it turns out you need to pay money to start the club, and then after March of 09 there will be a monthly fee for it as well. I'm not paying until they get the rest of the online items working correctly or even close to live, which is not going to happen anytime soon. That's from saying they are willing to pay for PSn if it gets its act even close to Live

Huh?...I thought Home was completely free?

I never expected this to be amazing.

man, it's getting lambasted everywhere. From IGN

Jeff's Take
I've said it since Home was announced, and I'll say it again: Home is perhaps one of the biggest mistakes that Sony has ever made.

Chris' Take
If I had to describe Home in one word, it would be "boring". Yep, I'm bored to death with Home.

Greg's Take
After seeing PlayStation Home at GDC 2007 and the handful of events that followed through the months, I wasn't impressed. The social networking application seemed empty, limited, and bare. Why would people want to load a virtual world to find a friend to load another game and launch that title? Now, after a month or so in the beta and taking a few hours to fool with the final product, I can finally weigh in with an informed opinion.

PlayStation Home is dumb.

Home's launch is a massive failure.. Fission mailed.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

1 Word... Appliances

Its the 1 thing I'm looking forward too in Home for your Home Space for example Music Sets and TV's, TV's especially... it will be pretty sweet to get a bunch of friends at your space with Mic's and whatnot and all watch a Movie/listen to music together... personally it will be sweet for me due to the fact I have 54 movies downloaded on my PS3 right now. Most of the time i spend in Home at the moment is playing pool though and the TV feature is what I'm looking forward too... then again who knows how long that will take to come out.

IMO Home will get better... it isn't close to what Sony wants it to be... and a big issue right now with home is the fact it has no content and very little games...

What people don't seem to take into consideration is that there will over the coming months is a inevitable DRASTIC increase to a MULTITUDE of games, all of which will be free. For example HOME will be receiving much content next week along with the Red Bull space which will include a Flying Game... and literally the game looks extremely worthy... more games like this and I guarantee MANY of you will be coming back to home... Trailer in my next post

Take in consideration you can most likely fly with multiple people at a time in the space... and this will be free... imo the size of the space surprised me the most.

Well thats what they said. Its not though

I spent my Home in a territorial battle for me and my homies. It took an hour of foul language and heated dance offs to do it, but the mall on server 35 was claimed for the Grove Street Family.

So Home is hosted on different servers like WOW, vice one big server like EVE...hmmm...kinda figure it would be nearly impossible to host on one server, but I didn't want to underestimate the power of celllllllllll.....lol.  So I guess it's like Second Life...and you get alerts when friends come on.  Hmmm...think I'll stick with MMO's for my online experience.
