Go back to the start of this year and carefully read the business plan Sony unveiled for the current fiscal year. Then check the numbers and (probably very slowly in your case) your mind will start to realise that the PS3 is selling almost exactly as the business plan says... go figure.

Now life sucks for Sony bcause of the worsening economy and the ability of MS to sell boatloads of XBoxes - life can be painful but so be it. And obviously, next fiscal year will be even more problematic for Sony as more and more divisions run into trouble and MS will continue to sell boatloads of XBoxes (at even greater losses than now) so life sucks^2 for Sony. If that gives you all the pleasure you need, so be it.

 

You know what? That's too bad for Sony but they choose the wrong strategy in the beggining. They underestimated the intelligence of customers when they launched PS3 at a outrageous price. Like they said : you reap what you sow!

so be it.

They STILL sold 1 MILLION PS3 in November.
At 400$/€. How bad for Sony... =)
it probably will sell 2 MILLIONS or even more in December, again at 400$/€.
Selling 3 mln. consoles in 2 months probably is very BAD. PS3 is dying. =)))

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

 1 million!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!! Wait? in a whole month? Worldwide? In the second best selling month of the video game industry? How much other consoles sold? That's what I though... that's too bad for Sony and they choose the wrong strategy.

Yeah not bad but it dosnt have nearly the sales of the other 2. PS3 is not dying it just looks like it aint gonna reach 2nd place anytime soon



I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

Hi, yes, we know the Wii is winning worldwide by huge margins.  Oddly enough, the 360 and the PS3 are still getting the best games, despite this huge margin of victory.  Get off the pedestal, you are providing nothing new to the conversation.

Because Gamecube:
a) Wasn`t MOST EXPENSIVE console, on the contraryit, it was the CHEAPEST console on the market.
b) GC wasn`t selling during CRISIS.

I think this is a case of "lower your standards enough and anything is positive". Congrats, Crazzy. The PS3 managed to sell a million consoles in a month. It's not dead, that must count for something, right?
