Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan First Day Sales (12/11)

Tatsunoko versus Capcom. :'( Now that I think about it, Im impressed that 3rd parties still investing console in Japan, the console industry was literally dead in japan, while the Wii was in life support. Not to bash or anything, but this is the holiday season after all, console sales should be around 100,000 right now...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Thanks for that!

I bolded the ones that will be below Wii's first week. Definitely not disastrous for TvC. Especially considering that SNK is a bigger brandname.

Taiko is doing very well.

Sucks for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, will now probably get a quick PSP port ( a la Tenchu 4).

Not so bad for Taiko, only a bit lower than DS rev, although it probably won't have the same legs.

What's that Penguin game, a platformer?

Next week will be much more interesting.

OUCH for Tatsunoko versus Capcom, I expected first day sales of 40k. Seems I grossly overestimated it.

Around the Network

Just read that Tatsunoko vs Capcom's first week shipment was 70,000. So it sold 20% or so on day one...

Where is Banjo Kazooie? He is going the 11/12 in japan?

Tatsunoko vs Capcom did ok.

I didn't know what to expect from TvC but 15k wasn't it. It won't be the worse showing for a Vs. game but since it the first new one in some time, I was hoping for a larger initial splash. Of course it is on Wii, so who knows if it will follow the conventional sales pattern.

I'm with you. I thought there was more buzz for TvsC outside of Japan, so I was thinking anywhere from 10kish to 40kish first day. 15k isn't bad, and I do see it following usually Wii patterns so first days not always an indicator for Wii games.

@crho: Thanks for the chart confirms being unsure was understandable, lol.
