Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3-HDMI Problem

I recently bought PS3 and I am having hard time getting picture with HDMI cabel I have two cabels that I have tried. My PS3 detect that there is HDMI Cabel but it does not show any pictures. I have tried to reset my system with holding the power button more then 10. Have you Ps3 owners had this problem?

My tv model is Samsung LE32S81B

Update:

I called Samsung and they were not much  help and they said that if my tv is connected to the computer with HDMI it cant be problem with the tv. The only thing I can do is to reset my ps3 so my tv can accept it. It might be problem with the PS3 instead and I should try my PS3 with another tv to see wich one is the problem. I took my tv to my friends house and it worked perfectly there with the same cable I have.

I have even tried to format the PS3 with the 6 hours format thing. Completly followed this guide

Next step is to call Sony because they were closed on fridays so I am going to call tomorrow.

I seem to remember a friend had a similar problem. I know that keeping the reset/power button held down will reset to non-HD.

Try using scart and hdmi at the same time, change your resolution (display settings) to 720p or 1080p and the screen should go off on scart but come on HDMI. You can use the red/white/yellow wires instead of scart I think. Pretty sure thats how we fixed it.

When I choose HDMI inte XMB it tried to show the picture tthrew HDMI and it fails and then it goes back to Scart after 30s. I cant choose 720p or 1080p (My tv cant handle 1080p) in HDMI option. Is there another place I can change resolution?

Step 1 -
Do it all over again. When it says "HDMI Device detected" at first, choose to output video and auido using HDMI.

Step 2-
Then it asks whether to switch to "optimal settings" choose no.

Step 3-
Go to system in the XMB and choose display settings.
For the type of connection choose HDMI.
In the next screen, you are given the option of Manual or automatic.Choose Manual.
Select the resolutions it can display. If 1080p cannot be done choose something else. Is it 720p????
In the next screen choose finish.

Good luck

I'm getting frustrated. When I reset my system and the "HDMI detected" thing shows up and I choose HDMI the screen becomes black. When I choose in the XMB it becames black and I change to the HDMI channel nothing there and I go back to scart efter few seconds the pictures is back to normal there.

What I mean is that I can only do step 1 and then the screen goes black. I dont know what my problem is exactly but I think that I have to lower my HDMI resolution somehow.  Thanks for trying to help :P

Did you try to lower the resolution manually????
Oh i think i got it.
set the display using Scart, then connect the HDMI cable. THEN set the display settings as i said above. select manual and 720p. Then the screen will go blank. Try switching to all the inputs of your TV and check. (Maybe you had selected the wrong input) (ex: HDMI1 instead of HDMI2 or something)

where i live tz 11pm. gotta go sleep now

I have tried everyting I can think of. Must be compatible issue between my tv and PS3.
