HOW THE HELL DO U FINISH THE FIRST LEVEL IN CAT MARIO - IT IS RIDICULOUS

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I tried flOw. It's so cool! So peaceful and interesting.

i got to 2nd level, the elevator level bit = no more

I wish Gametap would put up Thief. Thief III is by far the weakest of the three Thief games, the best being II, which I own and beaten many many many times. However I lost my Thief I CD so long ago.......

If you put Cat Mario on that list, I Wanna Be The Guy deserves to be there as well. And Karoshi and Merry Gear Solid, for that matter.

DL Link for Karoshi:

And for MGS:

Those look really interesting. Once I try them out, I'll edit them into the OP. Also, someone start badgering the mods to get this stickied. It would really be a shme for this to get buried where people can't find it.

I'm posting here so that this tread will be easier for me to find later. Tried the warbears game last night, and it was lots of fun. I drowned the one bear in the washroom on the first mission. lol.

Still haven't beat that first mission, but I did not play long.

May I recommend Battle for Wesnoth?

Dare I suggest Dwarf Fortress in its mighty ultra-hardcore impenetrability?

As amusing and torturous as they can be, I suggest we don't open that particular can of worms. Hell, Nethack is apparently one of the easier roguelikes around, and even that's (borderline) impossible to beat without extensive knowledge of the game, its inner workings and/or savescumming. I Wanna Be The Guy is notorious for its brutal difficulty, yet it's simple and easy compared to some of the more monstrous roguelike abominations I've seen.

E: Oh yeah, and the DL link for IWBTG:

Yes, warbears is hella fun, but it's so tricky to figure out how to coordinate all the bears, cause every action can have some small effect on actions down teh road, sometimes beneficial, sometimes not, and sometimes something that seems like it's beneficial isn't and vica versa.

GAH! that so reminds me! I can't believe I forgot to put in GROW which is an excellent series of games. I've managed to complete most of them, but only gotten the best outcome on a few of them. Basically, each round you place one of the possible pieces into the area where they can grow, but sometimes one piece's growth is dependant on another's and sometimes one piece can get in another pieces way or kill it entirely. sometimes a piece can grow in multiple manners with different amounts of growth possible for each. Grow 2 and Grow RPG are my favorites of the series, but Grow 3, Grow Cube, and Grow Island are also quite fun(though for some reason Grow 3 doesn't like playing on my firefox, but it does work in IE, but that might just be me, it played in firefox fine before). There are a bunch of other games on the site as well, including Dwarf Complete which is a fun sorta puzzle, dungeon treasure hunt type game.

I also probably should have mentioned the free episode of Sam & Max on gametap, there are a lot of fans of that series. I found it okay, but since it's something like the 4th episode, I felt like I was dropped in the middle of things a bit.

Also there's a free PC version of De Blob, though it's probably essentially the same as a demo version, since this seems to be from back when it was still an indy PC game by students. I would have mentioned it, but I really don't like the controls that much.
