also, the blue light comes on when inserting and taking out Wii discs.

As far as I knew, this update was for North America and Europe, but I guess WiiGirl confirmed a Japanese update as well.

Just in case anyone was wondering, the update is rather large. It took me roughly 10-15 minutes to complete with the 6mbps my router lets me go (Location BC, Canada). Of course, I'm not sure at what bandwidth speed Nintendo sends us the data, so you could be looking at the same wait even with lower download speeds.

I didn't even know they had firmware updates readily available in games. I'd assume you have V2.1 or V2.2 if you got the update in RE4.

Neo-Geo isn't out yet. Maybe in the next update?

Not there yet, since the new update, the information about the Neo Geo games has been gone from my notification list. Via the Japanese server they always notifiy what VC games will be released every week and what gamers can expect each month. Neo Geo games was suppose to release during this Summer...

From what I heard on other boards, it doesn't appear to break things yet.  That said, there are many differnt mod chips, so it could be safe with some and not with others.

My guess, Nintendo is probably  just going to collect statistics on how many have a modded chip, how many different games they play, and break them in the future if it's a serious problem.

 When Microsoft broke xbox live for people with modded 360s, were people generally happy or mad at Microsoft?

 

 I have no mod chip installed, so it's all moot to me

I guess i'm retarded but when i woke up i saw the glow and was like WTF is something wrong with my wii and was about to post about it but now its all good. though i can't install the update because my brother is watching tv right now.

Anytime anyone e-mails you on the wii, you get the blue glow...

I just installed it, and didn't see the modchip warning. Do you only get that if you actually have one installed?

If you go back and try to update again, you'll get the warning.
