Forums - Sales Discussion - the reason of why so many games flopped is...

if so many games floppe it's because of the price, when you have bouhgt the AAA games, GOW2, COD 5, Fable 2 and Left4DEad, you don't have any money fr more, but at half the price, you can buy Mirror, Dead space, Far Cry and Midnight Club for exemple.

The problem is that the market is keeping growing, but few games win everything and there is nothing for the rest, and at better price, the biggest games will win less money but the other game will have their chance...

Well there's a truth in that. A lot of people who have enough money might not see it as a problem, but people who don't have as much money to spend don't buy all the games they'd like, only the ones at the very top of their wishlists.
If I really want a game, I usually buy it, but there are times when I find myself wanting a game but not buying it, because I need the money for other things. Seriously, if games were cheaper, I'd have gotten so many more. There have been tons of games over the years that I'd have liked to buy, but never could afford.
I think this is even more the case with the HD consoles, compared to Wii, since their games are outrageously expensive. And don't even get me started on handheld games. :s

I agree. I would buy twice as many games if they were just $45 US instead of $60 US

I would buy ten times as many if they were $20, like they should be. Gaming prices are nonsense, especially in europe. We pay more than $100 for PS360 games here. That's outrages.

Yeah totally! The prices here in Europe are utterly horribly outrageous!

We pay $110 Au for PS360 games down under
(that's anywhere between $70 and $100 US equivalent, depending on the strength of our currency)

So stop whining :P

You pay less, so we should stop whining? Makes no sense, man!

I'd say there are two reasons:

money - average game is too expensive for the value it offers (mirrors edge for example) and as such it's too expensive to be bought by those with a lot of free time for gaming (as those groups who have a lot of time usually have smaller income)

time - typical young adult can spend only so much time on gaming each week and it can take weeks before they finish a game which leads us to the point that they need only a few games per month.

Stillwell, was that directed t me?

I was talking to kjj4t9, I know Europe gets screwed over too

how much games cost in the US?

Here in Sweden we pay 60$ for Wii360 games and 80$ for PS3 games.

I get about 1800$ after taxes each month but after everything is paid and done(Rent and bills and food) I have about 400$ left to spend on anything I want(or save it )

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
