I think most members realize John Lucas is pretty... extraordinary guy. I've created this topic to give to him an oportunity to purify. We all know about MGS4, July prediction(!!), September prediction (!!!), DQ:S, Mario Strikers, 20 million etc.. I think I'm not only one who want him to eat his words. 08.08.2007 is a judgement day. Will he appear? The most annoying thing about John Lucas is fact he doesn't accept failure of his prediction. Yes it will be a tough lesson.

It has already passed the 360...like I said so long ago.

VGChartz will display the results of the July surpassing next week at August 8th.

Mario Strikers Charged in North America will be the title which pushes the extra firepower that make the charts match.

Next bet is when will it pass 360 in North America?

I'll admit that I pushed the superfluous stipulation of July in NA too hard so I admit that error. I threw that in there without any real thought as an added stipulation to my original prediction on Wii Vs. 360 in North America.

Stripping away the added stipulation I always said Wii passes 360 in the summer.

I count official summer as summer which ends September 22. Fall/Autumn begins Sept. 23.

Madden will give 360 tremendous boosts as will Halo 3 but Wii also has a formidable lineup as production buildup starts showing its strength as they prepare for the Holidays.

There's a little under 2 months for calls to be made on this and after that prediction of mine comes true also prepare for the big one.

Year-end sales.

AT LEAST 20 Million Worldwide. Best case scenario: 24 Million Worldwide. For Wii.

For XBox 360- within 13 million range high or low. They will not be able to quite break 14 million before year's end.

For PS3- being VERY generous, just over 7 million at BEST case scenario.

Yes, I was (am) wrong... I highly underestimated power of the next gen (PS3/X360). I feel sorry. I was blind. Forgive me. Please, let's forget about my silly prediction...
Anyone waiting for August 8 too?

To his credit, he's going to be a lot closer (on the worldwide catchup) than anyone thought he was going to be when he first made the prediction.

I still don't see the catchup in NA happening before 2008 though.

That just makes me uncomfortable ... Not that there is anything wrong with that ...

 

Seriously though, John Lucas has made some pretty bold predictions but he has come far closer than anyone would have anticipated; at the end of August the Wii will have passed the XBox 360 worldwide, be within 2.5 Million consoles in North America and 2 Million consoles in the Other regions.

Or more accurately he overestimated the manufacturing capabilities of Nintendo.

That July prediction was basically the best thing any analyst worldwide has ever said.

Point is he didn't accept any mistake in his sales plan. I would start thread like this even if he missed only about 2k...

True. He doesn't admit he was wrong.

Further point, a lot of people were wrong, most moreso than John Lucas, but few of them are jumping forward to admit it even while they hypocritically lambast him for doing better than they.
