I found it accurate and well written. Soccer is a worthless sport. I was born and raised in Mexico and was a soccer fanatic. However, after moving to the States, finding out what school spirit meant (because outside of this country, no fucking place in the world has any clue what school spirit is and it is essential to love the sport and then appreciate the NFL) and getting to truly understand American Football I found out that it is way better than soccer.

Soccer is just a pointless sport where the same 4 teams in the world always win and its more about luck than precision. In American Football, you have to be a total badass to make plays happen and if you can pull it off and not loose the ball after being hit, then you truly are a badass. In soccer all they do is cry and play to be drama actors pretending they got hurt after being pushed a little.

So in conclusion: If you haven't lived the American way of life, immerse yourself in the culture and give American Football the opportunity of understanding, you will never know why American feels the way they do about soccer and why it sucks.

It takes a little bit of brilliance and a lot of courage to know which way works then to turn around and go the other way.

Just because you like the game doesn't mean the review is bad. I mean if you like Manager games then this game would probably be really good for you, but if not then you would have 0 interest in the game.

This can be said about every game out there, if he hates and doesn't even understand the difference between a managing game and FIFA why let him review the game?

For some people platformers suck, i didn't see SMG get any 2's because of this.

Ive been playing FM2009 solidly for a week or so now and enjoying it like any other version.. in fact my wii is feeling lonely at the mo because of it... not bad for a game that scored 2...ohhh wait its an ign us review?! ahhhh that explains a lot..

seriously though this proves my point that we should never trust game reviews blindly but only our own judgment cause its our money!. Us gamers are the ones who decide what is fun for us not some paid snobby ass nerd..and when i say paid i don't mean their monthly wages only...food for thought guys

IGN US hates football games. Even more than IGN UK hates shooters.

As far as I'm concerned, this disqualifies IGN PC reviews forever. Obviously the editors cannot be trusted.

Wow.... IGN is angry or something???? That brought it's metacritic down quite by quite a bit....

4 ≈ One

this shows how STUPID people are that listen to what those stupid reviews have to say, and they never trust their own taste!

for example, a lot of people said they won't buy Tales of Symphonia 2 because of the IGN reviews, and they all suck cause Tales 2 is a masterpiece!

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

IGN seem to be doing this a lot lately.. poo on u

There is single reason why soccer is the best sport.

"you only need 1 roundish object to play it with friends"

with soccer you can make anything into a field, just put two shirts or school bags as posts and use a coke can as the ball... it works you can do a 2 vs 2 or whatever. Hell you can even play in a coridor... kick the stuffed animal past your friend.

Basketball -> need hoops and actuall ball   Or a single shirt/school bag and a coke can that you try to throw into said shirt/bag.  And for others, a basket or score is a given if you can simply dribble past your opponent, so any bouncy ball would work for that game
Handball -> need actuall ball
Hockey -> gear heaven  The only real gear required is a couple of sticks and any object to hit around, though actual hockey sticks will probably be easier to obtain than usable sticks from a tree.  It doesn't have to be a contact sport with friends
Rugby -> too physical/dirtying is the only reason.
us football -> gear heaven  Again, it doesn't have to be a contact sport, reducing the requirement to a throwable object(not necessarily a football, but that certainly helps for longer passes) and some shirts/bags/landmarks to mark endzones
Baseball -> needs wide field and gear  The only real gear needed is a stick and a ball, though a suitable area to play is true. But I'd argue more that you need quite a few friends to play this one or most of the time would be spent recovering the ball
tennis -> needs gear and court

@topic: the only bad thing about championship manager is that it sucks time.... last time I tryed to play, I spent 2 hours looking profiles to recruit at the begining of the season... way too long (yeah you don't need to do it but I play like this)

Just wanted to point out that you simplified football/soccer without doing the same for other sports.  Otherwise I'd say that it's going to be difficult to find/build posts with a crossbar as a limit to the height of possible goals.

@topic:
Seems to me like IGN US did a review for the general American gamer.  So in that regard they did a decent job, as very few of its general audience would be interested in this game.  Where they fail though is that games shouldn't be reviewed in this manner.  This should have been reviewed for its intended audience, and as many other reviews show it does a great job at being a good management game.  Very few people would simply go out and buy a game just because they see that it received a high review, so only those interested in this "genre" would even check out the review and perhaps decide to check out the game themselves.

I've stopped going to IGN and other major sites for reviews alltogether.  Scores seem to be based too much on hype and/or my opinions on games differs too much from the reviewers to be helpful.  Instead I get most of my info on which games I'd be interested right here, thanks to all of the posting members. :)
