Forums - Sales Discussion - OMG !!!! Boogie is going to "bomb" !!

How do I know it ?

Well, the game is going to release in only 2 days and is yet ranked @ 97 in amazon.com (available for pre-orders)... I remember that even games that finally sold "bad" (as SSX blur or the godfather) were better ranked the week before their release...

Oh yes , you're going to say :"it's Amazon, don't worry, bla bla bla...." but I think I'm right. Look : even a game as "Brunswick pro bowling" (that release on august the 21st) is now ranked @ 16 !

Maybe tv's advertising hasn't started yet ? (I don't know, I live in Europa).

EA will be very disappointed... (so do I)

Yeah, I know you said it don't say it, but well, it's Amazon so don't worry. I don't think Boogie will be a huge mega seller, but it won't bomb and will sell fairly decently.

But hey, at least you get a B+ for trying to be a troll and attract flamers.

Like I have said before, I think this game looks kind of cool. I don't want it to bomb, but I think it very well could. Doesn't seem to be well publicized, its not published by Nintendo, and it costs a little more cause it includes a mic. Plus it is a new franchise.

Poor little Boogie.

On a side note, I am trying to figure out what the hell the main character (the pinkish blob guy with a disco suit) is.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Eh...it'll probably bomb. I haven't seen any ads or anything...how's the mainstream supposed to find this game if nobody knows about it...

Perhaps it'll have long legs, who knows.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I'm not that interested in it anyway...I'm not a karaoke person, and my friends definitely aren't.

++ to Bens second post.

I embarrassed myself the one and only time I played singstar. Oh god I got terrible scores.

I will be very disappointed if Boogie weren't sold more than 90 or 100k on first week !!

You've set your expectations way too high. You are going to be really disappointed. When I look at this game I wouldn't be surprised with something below 15k... maybe 100k during liftime.

There was little chance a new ip and new gameplay mechanic like Boogie would make big initial sales. But if it's fun, it could spread by word of mouth in the same way Guitar Hero did. That game didn't sell well originally either.
