you are correct. Nintendo doesn't ship any more units. @pc sales the site doesn't even track PC sales, so that won't happen. |
no, we would track PC software if it was possible.

Until about three months ago, PS2 and Xbox 360 sales were roughly the same for the last nine months worldwide (with 360 being slightly higher during the 2007 holiday season).
Since the pricedrop, the PS2 has continued on the same trend-line while the 360 has jumped in sales.

Wait, no what? I never said anything about the posibility or desire to track PC sales. I just said VGChartz doesn't. You don't make sense most the time.

I was more responding to the "wont happen" part. It could very well happen if we could gain distibution sources like Valve's Steam and can get data from retailers like we do for our console/handheld sales.

agree with this
I've read a lot about how PS2 numbers are not "relevant". I would say they are still relevant if people are still purchasing the system.
I don't consider the PSP irrelevant because the PS3 came out. Obviously Sony is selling both of them and they do different things. I consider this the same relationship as the PS3 and the PS2 even though the PS3 is the eventual replacement.

How do you propose we do this? PCs have different manufacturers so they would all need seperate sales tallied. Many computers aren't built for modern, non-indy releases, so how do we differentiate between them? Also how do you tally computer hardware people buy to upgrade their rigs with? It's just much too messy to deal with.
We could put a box for it under the PSP section.
Edit: And outline the box in complimentary light orange to the blue website noting it is past gen...
Yeah I think the playstation 2 could have its private box with the market share between ps2/xbox/GC. This console is still advertize and played by many people around the world.
What I want to know is
The primary purpose of this site (ostensibly) is the tracking of the sales of seventh generation consoles. I mean, typically. It's what there tends to be here.
Even if the Playstation 2 is still selling - and it is - what relevance in particular does it have towards the current gen? Would you suggest that it is undercutting the sales of another system? Should VGChartz then have tracked the GBA up until the spring of 2007?
