Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do we ignore the PC?

@endimiion,

There is truth to what you say, but I don't see how any of it means we get to say that games like UT3, Bioshock, and others are exclusive, or why we shouldn't talk about their PC counterparts..

The comparisons are easy to make as long as you aren't trying to compare the games sales numbers cross platform. We all know what kind of control scheme the PC and xxx console will have for a given game, so its not like we can't compare the merits of the control scheme and judge for ourselves. But more importantly we should be taking into account the fact that people probably aren't going to buy a console for a game they can already play on their PC. So while you can't compare the sales numbers, its not like it is hard to see what kind of impact a PC version will have on a game's ability to push consoles.

me I know lol... I don't have a PC up to date anymore... so it will be XB especially since there are a lot of game I want.... I really don't have the money to upgrade.....

if you have the PC for it's a different question... what is the recommended hardware requirement for that game anyway???

I'm waiting to see how bioshock performs on the Xbox vs. PC as well as how it works with the controller

yeah, i never really understand why anybody want to buy a game on a console when there's PC version available. you save $10-$20; graphics might suffer a little bit but in return you get a lot more options, online in particular.

that's why for instance i have no idea why anybody should be excited about civ coming to consoles.

the only explanation is that people want to separate work from play. or that kids don't have regular access to a PC, which is rare nowadays i imagine.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Top reasons why I prefer consoles over PC (please note that the 360 is my first console and I've always been a PC player before that)

- Playing games laying on a couch instead of crunched over a keyboard
- My console has 4 remotes, my PC has 1xMouse and 1xKeyboard
- Never worried about not having the right PC requirements
- No need to download updated video or audio drivers
- Way less cheaters, also cheaters are caught and prosecuted (banned) on Xbox Live (this is a big plus for me!)

Because I just don't like playing games on my PC at all.

yeah gebx summed it up.... and me i like the simplicity of the online.... I was tired of all the mods and crazy change each player had etc.... I'm not saying for some game it's style better online like RTS, RPGs but the rest is far more complicating than interesting.... and it's way simpler for the regular user.....

people playing with mods and sh**t like me are geeks, I recognize that.... a lot of people don't care about all that stuff and prefer a simpler format... XB you click XBL multi and you are good to go against any other player in the world with a gold membership.... you don't need to ask yourself any question or do anything just click a button... that's far more appealing for a lot of non geek people.....

me the main reason is I don't want to spend any more money on my computer... that's why I bought a console and by th game on console more than PC now.... that's the only reason..... and the fact I have more real life friends with a console and XBL than a PC up to date....

well like I said most people don't play a lot on their PC... because they don't have the PC for it... how many people are buying there PC at alienware.... or even the gaming version at other PC builders ??? or better yet how many build their own computer like me and maybe you..... it's just that PC is not concidered by a lot of people to be a gaming plateform compare to console... and a lot of harcore gamers just don't buy the game they DL it if they don't need to buy it to play online or find a way around...

The reasons Gebx listed are very valid ones and there are others as well. Every console game before it's released is sent to the console manufacturer who then does additional QA testing of their own to ensure that the game is ready for release. There is no such thing with games on PC so we have to rely on the game developers word that the game is not just a beta being rushed out the door. So when you buy a console game you can expect it to work properly on your system and not expect to encounter any serious problems (corrupted graphics, major crashes, etc).

Also it's hard to compare PC and Console games because the experience can vary so much for the PC game. For example if you don't have good hardware you may not even get an experience comparable to the version on console so for those who always say the PC experience is superior that may be true for high end systems but may not be for the far more common lower end systems (systems with onboard video for example).

Because its not comfortable playin on the pc,and well its not as good as playing on your ps3 or Wii.
