No, last years numbers are from Black Friday, IIRC.

The week ending the 24 the PS3 sold 175k, so it's up from last year.

But this week is closer to Christmas, so higher sales were expected anyway. That's why I said we should add both weeks. I didn't bother doing it though, too lazy now.

Regarding Microsoft's press release and 3-1 sales -

They did say they outsold PS3 3-1 over the weekend. It is possible that PS3 outsold 360 the rest of the week based on two assumptions:

1. The mass market buyers who are getting the arcades that fueled the big weekend number are more likely to go to the mall over the weekend for holiday presents versus the "hardcore" who might buy elites or PS3's on a more normal day.

2. It seemed that there were more really strong 360 bundles/deals advertised in Black Friday mailers and promos than PS3 ones. The advantage of getting them over the weekend may have been stronger meaning people were more likely to wait until then.

This could explain how the VG numbers could be correct AND the Microsoft numbers could be correct.

Just a theory.

I'm very impressed with Wii's Numbers. I figured they would barely scratch 1 million this week. Getting over that, well. Like I said, color me impressed.

Boy, if the Wii kept this pace up eventually the weekly hardware sales would eclipse the weekly software sales lmao!

But seriously, great week for all systems... $199 Arcade unit is definitely helping MS leave Sony in the dust.

Haha, the 360 is on 30.0% again!

Monstrous DS and Wii sales of course - I can't wait for software. I have a crazy suspicion that Wii Music will do quite well this week

i dont think the PS3 doing that bad. M$ just had a price cut plus an ass load of AAA games so of course it was going to see a huge boost. When the PS3 gets more games and a price cut im sure the sales will be just as big.

289k - Black friday and week preceeding 2008

Still up YoY. 

This year, PS3 had a worse pre-black friday week, but a better black friday week.

Week before black friday 2007 - 96k

Week before black friday 2008 - 91k

Black friday week 2007 - 175k

Black friday week 2008 - 198k

@DMeisterJ: That's nice for the PS3 then. After a year it can maintain the sales level without a price cut, that must mean the games are doing something.
