Forums - Microsoft Discussion - How many 360/Wii owners would sell their Wii if Newton was released?

Newton the motion control 360 controller...  I think it would pretty much leave the Wii dead in the water besides casual Mario and 3rd party titles.

I do not care for this thing you call newton. unless it is built on the power glove technology of yore.

Yeah this makes total sense. Everyone knows you buy a Wii just for the controller. The games involved are entirely besides the point.

I hear it ports all the Nintendo games for you, and then when you're done with those it'll start writing new ones!

No.  I am saying Nintendo has good titles that sell but they are mainly first party ones.  MSFT has better sales for both first and third party sales.  A motion control system would benefit MSFT by swinging some of that potential audience their way.  Unfortunately, I do not expect to see this until the 720.

0 (zero) would. Motion control is not the primary purpose to owning a Wii.

The Newton is motion control, that is what he is saying.

Some people just plain like Nintendo for its first party games though.

@Superchunk For the young and old demographic, that could be debated. Anyway, I do believe MS will do a standard gamepad and a motion controller next go round.

Well no I would never sell my Wii. Remember I could have sold that thing during when it was sold out and made me close to a $400 profit off Ebay and then bought another one with $150 to spare later. So know I doubt something like this would ever cause me to sell something I play almost every day.

And I think the problem here is assumption. You assume that because 360 would get it that automatically those kinds of titles would take off. I mean it takes more than just doing. Took awhile for DS to take off and that's the only reason Wii took off immediately with Wii Sports. MS is going off nothing. Why do you think its still behind Nintendo AND Sony on the casual and mainstream front.
