Not unexpected though. Sony had NO pricecut and still managed to sell 170,000 systems in just one region. I would not call this a failure but a delay in what's to come for PS3. It isn't that it's doing bad just not as good as we would like it to. Still great for 360 but, once again, this is not a shocker. $200 vs $400 - Yes 360 will continue this, especially during this time of an Economic Crisis the likes which we have not seen since the Great Depression.

Are you aware that these new numbers are the same week R2 launched in Others? 360 had no releases. And PS3 is beat nearly 2:1 in others. Thats pretty poor imo.

Now now, remember that RFOM2 was apparently not delivered to a lot of stores and has been only partially available as a result - or so I've seen forum postings claiming.

I live in the UK, the stores they mentioned arent high for game sales here in UK. The main sellers Game, Gamestation, HMV and Supermarkets have all had no stock shortages in my city. They have had loads of copies.

I love it when gamers talk economics and think they know a lot about it. Not saying none of them know economies, but if you did take the time to look over the trends, the economy is always in an up and down cycle. We will have a few years of increase, then a few years of decrease, then it will level and start increasing again. The Economy has been much worse than it is now, and not just in the Great Depression. It was bad at one point in the 70's, at one point in the 80's, at one point in the 90's.... see what I'm trying to say? News stations and politics will always ride the bad times because it gives them attention and allows them to gain influence, but never fear, the good times are just around the corner.

(that corner could be months or years away, though )

Oh ok. So you are right and those economists and analysts from Deutsche Bank and UBS I met last week are wrong.... I'll let them know.

This is the worst since the thirties and it will become apparent over time. Do you even realise what has gone on to prop up the world economies? If the action of the FED, European Bank and the Bank Of England hadnt been taken... we would now be in total meltdown.

Well he has a point.

This is a period of economic standstill and that happens every cycle

It just happens too be a bigger time of economic trouble

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I should have mentioned that I was refering to the US economy, not global economy.  Over here in the US, it is bad, but has been worse in the 60's/70's especially.  A bad economy can be driven deaper by those that take it in a pessimistic manner.  In the US, especially my area, the economy is still rather stable, and in no way is it threatening to go Great Depression on us any time soon.

If worse times come, then they come and I'll deal with them then.  But for now, my job is stable, my familie's jobs are stable, our wealth isn't tied to stocks in any way, we have a good deal of savings, so we shall be able to ride out anything for a good while.

Not yet, we arent completey at the level of a depression yet. Let the 2nd depression start with all three US auto makers fall. Once that happens the US will be at an all time low.

I'm just interested really in how and why a console once cheaper then the PS3 and not outselling it, now has a slightly cheaper price and is outselling it.

Wii still rules though.

The advertising for the 150 euro sku here in Belgium (and I think in all of Europe) is insane. This is the first time that the masses really see the price difference between ps3 and 360. On almost every busstop there is a big poster showing a 360 with a 150 euro price tag. Wii and DS are showing up on tv every 5 minutes. I haven't seen this much advertising for a console(s) ever. Even in the ps2 era, Sony didn't have a merketing campaign this big.
