Well before you attack me, know who I was arguing with. Second of all the Wii started outselling the PS3 and 360 long before the 360's price ever left the $399.99 price point and OF COURSE when PS3 was still $599.99. Beyond that scarcity (which the Wii has remained pretty much since the start of it's life) + cheaper price - like 360 is now, created more demand. The difference with Wii is the 360 has not compared to the Wii's continued momentum due to the facts I stated above. So that kills your point with the Wii. Now on to Infamous, he thought he countered my argument with some sales figures he called facts, but was debunked and he denied it. Infamous never answered ONE question I asked. He just ranted about how he proved leo-j and I wrong with his “opinions” and how he should be credited for arguing the best online. Now my question to you is: where are you going with this?

first off, it's sorta weak to point out someone's mistake AFTER another person already beat you to it. I was wrong about the name. Done. Secondly, I'm not attacking you so much as trying to get an answer from you. I've been through all the pages in this topic and lost count of how many times I saw $200 vs. $400 in your posts, which is honestly a disservice to the 360 and everything it's accomplished. It's perfectly natural to play favorites, as the PS3... or anything Playstation for that matter... appears to be an unfortunate bias on your part, but at the very least try and temper your posts with a little perspective. You didn't kill my point about the Wii, because 'I' wasn't making one with it, ... you're words were, "hence, higher sales for the cheaper console" and I was asking that if that were true, why isn't the Arcade selling more than the Wii. You can bring up momemtum all you want, but again, "hence, higher sales for the cheaper console" So, watch how you say things, cause some people will catch you on them. Also, I didn't hear an answer from you about why the Pro and Elite sold more than the PS3, which discounts the $200 vs. $400 things. Why did you avoid that? Why did you avoid my question about the PS3 losing 2007. Now, on to your question: I guess I won't be going anywhere with this if you continue to avoid honest debate by changing subjects, answering other's with questions of your own instead dealing with their's first. Here's a simple one. Since all of the respective 360 models are outselling the PS3 by such a large margin, does that mean they're a better value to the general public?

Well the past 2 years i always heard that ps3 is going to catch up, that this super console is just warming up, etc. Even now when 360 sold almost double numbers of hardware compare to ps3 there are some people that can see in the future a really awesome comeback.
You know what? If this holiday season ps3 can not manage to even outsell 360 (i don't dare to say outsell WII) then just give up guys. Yes ps3 is a super machine but a) can't compete with ms's money that buy almost every exclusivity on earth, b)can't compete with Nintendo's creativity that came from nowhere with the motion sensing controls.
Sony underestimated ms's potential in market and hugely underestimated Nintendo. Sony also overestimated its brandname as the only factor capable to sell consoles.
Now they pay the price.
A comeback in it's 3rd+ year while the majority of next gen customers have already decide their next console is absolutelly unachievable.

ROFLOL...now people are saying sony needed a price cut...but amazingly, when the much delayed 360 price cut happened this year, some said M$ was discounting on it's way out the door, like HD-DVD...now that 360 is posted gangbuster numbers, M$ is looking brilliant! At this point, i certianly think ps3 is going to bounce back next year, but I doubt it's ever going to catch 360, and of course it has no chance of catching Wii.

I wonder if anyone else has taken note of the fact that these sales threads diverge into a dozen little tantrums about different things. I think it is a sign that some posters are intentionally trying to change the subject. I think it is just a shame when I read a thread that I have to ignore a couple posters who are going to ramble out twenty posts between them in their own personal war. Seriously take that bullshit to mails like adults. You know who lost your argument. Both of you lost, because you both came across as self important assholes in a vain search for the spotlight.

Now onto the topic I think it is more then price even though the price does give consumers more incentive. Sony may have had the brand name, but it also failed miserably in distinguishing itself as in any way superior. The result is that the sales for the PS3 have suffered compared to the 360 far more then they would have had the PS3 actually been a superior product. The average consumer in Europe is obviously not as stupid as some posters gave them credit for.

These sales illustrate more then the price they illustrate that the Sony brand name is starting to wane in Europe as a justification for purchase. Yes the price helped Microsoft and it should have helped Microsoft. However it should not have helped Microsoft by this kind of margin. I think Europeans are looking at the two consoles, and are rightly concluding that they are basically the same thing except one costs a hell of a lot more, and it isn't exactly written in stone that a PS3 price cut next year can actually change this. The 360 will still retail at a lower price so they may still lean towards the 360.

Sony needs to remedy the price that is a fact, but what is also a fact is just doing that will not solve the problem in Europe. Sony needs to differentiate from the 360 in a major way, and looking at the software development cycles next year is not looking too hot for Sony. Microsoft had a lean software year, because they hit hard on the software front last year, and it takes a couple years for a exclusive developer to reload, and deliver a new game.

Next year Microsoft will probably get one or even more titles out of their key developers. Rare, Bungie, Lionhead, Mistwalker, in addition to the third party exclusives Microsoft is always keen to snatch up. Sony is going to have a rough go of it on the software side. Regardless of whether your in love with Killzone, GT5, or God of War.

I think the most damnable thing is I cannot even provide a real solution to the quagmire Sony finds itself in. They need to compete on so many fronts simultaneously. All of which require a large investment. Sony needs a better price, and it needs to acquire many more exclusives to even begin to rebuild the image. Otherwise Microsoft is going to continue to pound them. Basically this entire generation Sony has had to rely on fighting the war with one strategy at a time. That is usually pricing, but especially in the upcoming year if Microsoft pours it on in software Sony will be left hurting, and you cannot price cut your way out of a inferior lineup.

I give plenty of credit to 360 and Wii when it's due as I've done in this thread so me biased, no. I said it was great that M$ can enjoy these sales, as it's well deserved, but expexcted as well. You clearly don't know my post history. Second, my point was made VERY clear and it's interesting to see the same folks not getting it no matter how many times I've stated it. Calling me biased is pretty inaccurate and I defend the PS3 or any other console on people who troll on them. Tell me something, did I troll the 360? Me saying that the difference in PS3 sales and 360 sales MOSTLY, NOT ONLY, beause of prices + economic crisis is not a disservice to the 360 IMO. That's being, to me, realistic as I believe if PS3 had been $299.99, it'd be a totally different thread topic but that's another story.

The 360 is absolutely owning the PS3 right now, so... for all the 360 fans that post on these boards and argue back and forth with the PS3 guys, it's nice to have those sort of solid sales figures to throw around. What's irritating, is when a tried and true PS3 fan comes along and tries to mitigate, or lessen, what the 360's accomplished/accomplishing. You can say things like 'I give the 360 credit' all you want, but when you put that side by side with, 'the only reason it's selling like that is because of the economy and the $199 price tag'...... that really shows your true colors and undermines any credit you might have attempted to give. In other words, it bugs the hell outta you and you gotta reach for something to defend the PS3's comparitively poor sales figure with. If a true PS3 fan really wanted to give credit to the 360, they simply wouldn't post anything at all... or just say 'nice' and leave it at that.

It's alright to be biased towards one particular console... there's allot of your money sitting there on the shelf, but, when your avatar is from an exclusive PS3 game, and you have a small army of PS3's pictured in you sig as though they're a surrogate family or something along with grand sales expectations and predictions for only 'your' console..... to say you're not biased is simply lying. Again, that's where that perspective things comes in, you gotta see that you know.

In my last post, i made sure to end it with a question, that being the last thing you read, I had hoped you would have answered it. You can reply to this post if you want, but if you're not going to answer anything, please don't bother. If you can't follow the simple rules of discussion, you shouldn't be doing so.

Don't worry, 2010 will be the sony's year. By that, I mean that they might actually sell more than 360 on 2010. But who really cares about current consoles then? :)
