4th option, figure out a way to make PS3 cheap and lower its price to say USD 250. I do not have a PS3 currently, but will go for a blue ray player for USD 250.

At USD 250 a piece, I think PS3 should be able to sell as many as wii.

Why stop there?

Why not just figure out how to make the PS3 free?

Or why not figure out how to make the PS3 PRINT MONEY?

They have people working on cost reduction, don't worry about that. It's going to take a long time for it to hit $250. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

If there are other blue ray player cheaper than PS3 then I will not even buy a PS3.  Currently, all blue ray player is too expensive for me.  I am planning on spending 250 on a blue ray player.

If PS3 wants to attract customers because it has "Blue Ray" then, it needs to be cheaper than other blue ray players out there and cost less than $250.  Currently, I think it is the cheapest blue ray player in the market, but still too expensive.  250 will do for me.

I wont be wanting or needing a Blu ray player for a number of years as it has very little,if anthing to offer me over a DVD player. I don't want hours and hours of extra features on a disk just so they can put a few more pounds on each disk, I just want the main feature and if the story is exciting and engrosing or the comedy is funny enough any improvement in picture quality means nothing; if the quality of the actual feature is terrible it doesn't matter how good it looks, I'm still switching off!

DVD players and DVDs offered a vast difference over video and video cassettes, the same cannot be said for Blu ray players and disks.

Same goes for HD DVD too.

Have you seen the difference between a DVD and HD DVD? I have a 50 inch TV and 5.1 surround sound speaker set up at home. It is almost a waste not be able to use a HD DVD.

I have tried to hook up my computer to my TV and was able to watch some HD sports clips through my TV. What a view!! It is almost as if you were watching the game through a window.

I need a HD DVD or a blue ray player!

I've done the same with my HTPC. I downloaded several HD trailers, short movies and such to watch on my HDTV, and they look spectacular.

However, there is one caveat: I was watching it less than 1m away. From that distance it really looks remarkable - all the detail and the crispness of the image are frankly impressive.  From where I normally watch TV however (3m), I simply cannot make out the difference - or the difference is so slight that you need to really focus on the image to notice.

I'd love to get a larget HDTV, but there simply is no space! That's why, unfortunately, Blu-ray and HD-DVD are low on my list of priorities.

On my gaming computer, however, I have a 27" HDTV hooked up, and it's great because you are always sitting no more than 1/2m away, but I can't justify having Blu-ray or HD-DVD players just for my PC.

I must say that if you have a screen that is smaller than 40 inches than do not worry about 1080p. The big thing with 1080p is the amount of detail that is displayed during vistas or expansive scenes in any movie. From the sea attles in pirates of the carribean, the crusades in kingdom of heaven, the dunes in sahara, to the battles in last samurai, every added bit of definition to these scenes are a treat to the eyes. Also any film that is full CG is amazing in HD. The transfers are almost always pristine.

As far as the PS3 vs. Wii thing, I have always said that games matter. I personally think they are the most important things. So Sony's only option is to make sure that the majprity of games on the PS3 are of high quality.

It's funny how PS3 fans STILL can't seem to grasp the situation and what is going on in the games industry.

Whats going on, other then lowest priced product selling best my god thats so revolutionary.

You seriously don't know whats going on? Look at the DS situation almost 3 years on and tell me the Wii is only selling because it's the lowest price product?

If you honestly believe that then all for you, but you're sure in for a disappointment later this gen.

I looked at PS3s lineup, disappointment is impossible.

All 3 of your comments were sad.

As for a disappointment, you tell that to many people who bought the ps3 only to have it collecting dust until the good titles finally get here, but they just keep getting pushed farther and farther back.

There will always be dissapoint on each system, 360 has failure rate, ps3 has lack of current titles, and wii has shortages and some people might think that the motion think is a dissapointment (maybe)

Untill ps3 gets some actually really good games, ima wait a year or so , so that i WONT be dissapointed for buying a 500 dollar console

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Why do so many people say the PS3 has a lack off titles? If you own a 360 it is somewhat understandable but if taken from the standpoint of someone who doesn't own a 360 the PS3 has enough games to keep their users busy. I own all three consoles and my truth is that the wii gets the least usage while my PS3 and 360 get most of it. The dirty secret is that the PS2 probably still gets the most attention if I do the math.

They way I see it, it seems as if people on forums cannot help but project their own tastes on other gamers. I have not really played my wii in a while and I am playing the waiting game but I am not going to assume that people are letting their Wii's gather dust. There are alot of things to do with the Wii other than play Wii games and the same goes for the other systems.

Wow, I can't believe that the article is suggesting that Sony should copy Nintendo's idea. What scares me is that Sony is the type of company that actually would do that. They have taken several of Nintendo's ideas and they are always making bad claims about the company. So not only will that make them "copycats" (yet again), but it would also make them hypocrites for criticizing Nintendo for doing it, but then turning around and doing it themselves.

Sony already took rumble, 4-player gaming, and analog control from Nintendo, so they wouldn't think twice before creating their own Wii-mote.
