I'm betting it uses the HDD as a cache and loads the stuff there while playing.

I like installs.

I'm actually ok with installs as long as they are optional, the only issue is if they become necessary for the game to run properly. It's always best if the game does not need an install, and then installing just makes load times slightly better.

 i can recall when i laughingly tried LOST on ps3, it had a mandotary install that was flipping huge over 3gig. and look at gurillas effort, the best grafix ever on consoles with no install.

Hopefully the load times do not suffer as a result. How many times did I play Uncharted or Motorstorm and wish that they would load faster?

I used the new install feature on the 360 for Gears 2. It runs quieter and loads faster

Shame there isn't an optional install. The only problem people have had with PS3 game installs is that a lot have been mandatory which can be incredibly annoying. Optional game installs are great.

I like installs. I can get energy drinks ready for the campaign! JK but my roommate does that.

I agree with Motorstorm, the load times were very slow in that game, but Uncharted?

Granted, It's been some time since I last played Uncharted, but I honestly can't remember there being any long loading sequences at all.
