Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii Graphics can cut it (56k warning)

Just a graphic comparisson to demonstrate that Wii can push out Next-Gen Graphics.

I am posting this in the 'Gaming' board not the Nintendo board because I don't want to be accused of being a troll or anything like that, this is just simply a thread to easily point out both Wii and 360 have nice graphics.

And instead of posting this in an already existing somewhat similar thread I have chosen to post it in a new one all together simply because this took me ages to do, therefore deserves more then just a glimpse in a not so attractive thread title.

These are a handful I could find,

IMO Mario Galaxy looks better then all the games below.

Please no trolling, just post your honest thoughts, and if you feel you must pay out the Wii's graphics here please at least be informative and point out how Wii's screens look like crap to you.

First to give you an example of what Next-Gen Graphics are meant (I stress) to look like, I'll start with some 360 screens:

And here are the Wii screens:

Thanks guys, for not trolling.

I think it is intresting that all the xbox 360 games are third party and all the wii ones are first party. This just shows us that wii developers have been lazy. Look as those screen shots, what possible excuse do they have. Ubisoft for example made GRAW and it looks great and plays great to but they also made red steel, a game that looks dated and with controls that are just bad. Anyway, yes the wii can have good graphics but the developers are just to lazy to actual try.

maybe on 1 graphic yes but its just the picture. when you are walking with flying bullets over the shoulder with high rendered shadows an blood bursting out of bodies it is powerfull. the same with 3 enemies and no shadow and lower bullets looks good but yet less powerfull.

life isn't complicated, just face it simple.

I think it's a bunch of crap that these companys keep doing Nintendo like that. Alien Syndome looks like a N64 game, I mean I have the game (gift) but it's just sad how they don't even try. I would start making some type of standard if I were Nintendo. I'm some of the stuff looks bad for a Gamecube game.

Yeah the Wii I believe is going to start showing us some really amazing looking games graphically here real soon.

I personally can't wait to play Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core with the classic controller :D

Wii is making me love it more and more everyday but American devs are pretty lazy compared to some of the higher end Jap Devs.

Proud Owner Of: Wii, DS, PSP, Xbox 360 (Brother owns PS3 & PS2)

Things that have changed since the last Generation of Gaming:

- Nintendo has shown us you can have the best selling console of all time with virtually no games for it.

- Graphics suddenly matter to Sony fans but Reverse Compatibility and Dual shock oddly enough don’t.

- Kiddy Crap is trendy with Hardcore gamers now that it’s no longer Nintendo’s “thing” (Viva Piñata, Little Big Planet, Banjo Kazooie 3, LBP)

- Third Party Developers are now essentially the equivalent of Video Game street pimps.

- Gimmicks are no longer fads (Wii-mote)... Well, not all Gimmicks (PS-Eye)

i think because the wii is somehow similar to the cube it will reach its maximum very soon because it takes less effod to boost it same programming etc. think wii will be sooner on the top then x360 and ps3.

but the good looking games on a wii shows like 5 enemies at once like zelda. you wont see a 50 enemy room. and the rooms are devided by doors so it can load the room and enemies. aswell posting pictures from cutscenes isnt fair.
ff7 movies were superb but the ame wasnt like that.

Forever Blue is the best 3rd party game I have seen so far Wii (Graphic wise)

Posting screenshots isn't going to really demonstrate the abilities of either system real well.

You can always use overblown shots of various low-res x360 games versus low-res Wii games, but that doesn't tell the full story; neither for the Wii or X360.

It'd be better to compare some real HD video footage of a game like Mass Effect versus Super Mario Galaxy (as they're coming out the same time with similar budgets), and Bioshock versus Metriod Prime 3.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It's fair to say that the Wii has been hamstrung graphically by people moving canceled gamecube or porting gamecube games to it, PS2 games, etc. Games should ramp up significantly and look quite a lot better, but I wouldn't expect it to approach competing with the big boys simply because there isn't enough memory or fill rate.

Zelda, for example, has phenomenal art and very high quality standards. It's one of the best looking games I've played, by my eye, but when stretched to a 50" screen you can really tell that there is little anti aliasing and it runs quite low resolution. The textures, obviously, don't approach the level of detail from Gears of War or anything like that.  I can only imagine how Zelda would have looked if Nintendo would have had 360 level hardware to work with.

So while I think we have quite a bit more to see, I don't think we can expect magic beyond what Nintendo themselves regularly bring to the table.
