Go buy a 360 just because of the price and Gears 2 |
1 - Consoles are around 5-6x their actual price. For example, the PS3 is being sold here for about 5 million bolivares, which is around 2500 thousand dollars... and people buy them. Reason to why I'm buying it in the states. The Wii is about 2.5million bolivares which is about 1 thousand dollars. It's outsold.
2 - Can't rent games.
3 - Don't know the region coding, but all games sold here are imported from the States, we don't make any games here, not Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360 games.
4 - Yep, one of the main reasons I'm planning on getting the thing lol.
PS3, IMO. Just so many amazing games that u cannot play anywhere else. Most of the Boxes games can be played on the PC and PS3.
I would buy a PS3 just for LBP, which is easily in the top 10 best games ever made.
Playing and finishing games first>>>>>>>>>>Then talking!
Opinions are subjective and just like moods, can change.
TOP 12: Deus Ex, Shadow Man, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturn, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid Prime, Zelda (series), Uncharted (series), FF Tactics, Persona (series), Demons Souls, Vagrant Story.
MOST WANTED: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Last Guardian, ICO/Shadow OTC HD
I'd say: Wait for a PS3 pricecut.
Go for the 360 until then.
PS3 since you will save money, exchanging games with your friends ;).

Reading through your OP you have already made the choice for PS3. So this thread is kinda pointless.
I would say this.
For games variety 360 is the choice. Online service 360 is the choice.
And if sales keep up the way they are, for instance if M$ get 8mill + ahead then 3rd parties may not put all games out on PS3. Also in this factor is the horrible sales of PS3 exclusives. R2, M2 and LBP all did poorly imo compared with the hype. 360's future here is more certain for all types of games.
That said, why would you buy a PS3 now???? Wait till summer next year when the price may have droped. You can pick a 360 up now for cheap and play Gears 2 and Fable 2 (2 of the best games this year) for about half the price of a PS3.

Yes he already made his choice. So why try to convince him still?
A. He wants blu-ray
B. He doesn't want to pay for online.
C. He wants to play online with his friends who have Ps3's
Case closed.
D. He said he didn't want fanboy logic... Gears2 and Fable2 being best games this year is DEFINATLY fanboy logic. LBP and MGS4 scored higher than Gears and Fable...
(BTW pete I'm still waiting on your gaming tastes so I can reccomend games... unless you have the same exact taste as your friends and you will listen to them)
PS: 800k of a new IP in a couple of weeks is poor sales... LOL

1 - I said I was buying the console in the states 2 - Me posting on a gaming site doesn't mean my posts have anything to do with the value of the console. 3 - Could you tell me where I say i don't know the price of the consoles here in Venezuela? Anyways, thanks, think I'm going with the PS3 for 4 main reasons: |
Good choice. If your friends have PS3 online, that makes a big difference.
The 80GB PS3 is $399 in America. It comes with AV cables, a Dual Shock 3, Ethernet cable (although it has WLAN), and USB-Mini USB cable for charging your controller.
The controller has a full battery life (to begin with) of 30 hours, after this you will need to plug it in and charge. The battery level should remain very good for 5 years (at least that's what the guy at the store said)
You should definitely get HDMI cables- High Definition Multimedia Interface. This will greatly improve the picture quality, but make sure your TV has an HDMI port first. If not, you can
-Get an HDMI TV OR
-Get the slightly improved component cables.
You will want another controller if you want friends over; the Resistance games have some of the best offline multiplayer.
If you want voice chat, you might want to go with the official Bluetooth headset, $50 in America, but it's not vital if you want to keep things cheap.
As for games, it depends how many you want.
1) MGS4.
2) Resistance 2
3) BioShock
4) Little Big Planet (if it looks good to you, it's a love it/hate it thing)
5) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
6) Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.
Are some of the best games on PS3. You might want to look at IGN to see a list of high rated games and see which ones are in the genre you like.
Have fun playing b3yond!
