I think people were looking for Wii to give the Fire Emblem franchise some juice. They were looking for VF5 to give the PS3 some juice.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Yeah Monster hunter kicked butt! it's really shapping up the franchise for it's debut on the ps3. Also shows the PSP is far from dead in Japan. I'm just annoyed we got two Monster Hunters before we got 1 FF title. BTW I just picked up Jewel Summoner on my PSP, it's really good. It's got nice turned based gameplay slick animations, and really nice charachter designs/animation and painted backdrops for story scenes, plus pretty good voice work. It's definitly an underrated game. Fire emblem did as about as good as I expected, Naruto did worse then I thought it would nonetheless it's like the fifth one they blasted out straight from the series on the GC and being that they really haven't mixed it up much I can see interest starting to fade unless they shake it up. With that said I'm dying to mod my Wii so I can import this game, I love Naruto fighters!

Because there are three observation about MHP2. One is the sales continuously go well and total will became more than 200k. Next is the total sales will become 120~150k. Last is the sales drastiaclly declines, and the final sales will be below one million. Which is going to become the correct prediction?
Hmm, I'm a moderate person so I vote for option number 2. Today MHP2 dropped to a second place on best selling game list on amazon.jp so there must be some momentum. 100K looks pretty likely.

There is more than one "hot" game on the Wii. MH2 will move units modestly. Only about 100k units moved vs 700k software units. Most people buying it already own a PSP.

Diomedes, no one thought Fire Emblem would be a huge seller. The GC version sold 155k lifetime. So how is the the Wii incarnation selling 70k the first week a bad thing? Personally, I thought Fire Emblem would sell 35 to 45k the first week. I said so in a prior thread, you can look it up if you like. So it exceeded my expectations. VF4 sold over 3.5 times as many units as Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance over its life time. VF4 sold over 3.5 times as many units as Path of Radiance did its first week. Goddess of Dawn sold 70% of Path of Radiances sales its first week. VF5 sold about an 1/8th of VF4's first week sales. So Diomedes, does that explain why Fire Emblem sales can be considered a success and VF5 sales can be considered a failure?
