Forums - Sales Discussion - Retailers making it hard on the PS3 to do well during the holidays?

It seems again similar to last Black Friday there will be more 360 deals available then PS3.  The only deal that I personally saw that was good was the Best Buy one for the PS3.  Mind you some of the 360 sales involved the arcade which I personally wouldn't recommend though circuit city is giving away a 20 gig hard drive with it so that is where I would suggest people buying arcades from.  Anyways it will continue to be tough for the PS3 to win the holidays especially here in the USA when all the sales during the holiday typically favor the 360 and shoppers even without the economic crisis are always looking for deals to stretch their wallets and afford more gifts for people.   Do people think retailers are making it tougher for the PS3 to succeed during the holidays?

whats gonna make it hard for the ps3 is not the 360 deals but the BR player deals because if your lookin at thinkin of getting a BR player they are getting cheaper by the month and especially on black friday walmart has a BR player for 130-140 dollars which is a prime price for any player to sell well and with that price the ps3 wont sell hardly at all cause i think the ones that ar buying it now is doin so for the BR player and if the sales drop big for next week then that is the case. and it will be a very very hard xmas for the ps3

I did think about the blue ray player but I am just thinking as a gaming console alone. For example alot of the 360 deals include giving away extra 360 games while some PS3 deals though yes some have a game they typically try to also give you a movie which you may already have on dvd etc so that is not a great incentive for some people especially gamers.  The only physical media that I buy is video games and is very similar with alot of my friends so why do I care about getting a free movie that I may just watch once vs a game I may play a hell of alot more.  Basically retailers can help by making more games available with the sales of a PS3 and selling it as a gaming machine rather then a blue ray player as you mentioned if someone wanted a blue ray player they could just buy a cheaper one.
