Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who hates piracy?

I just hate it.It deprives the developer of the rewards of the efforts they put into their work.

Do you people like it or hate it?

It depends. When I used to live back home with game prices the way they were, I absolutely loved it. I don't like it as much now however, but you won't find me on a crusade against it either.

Depends. Like what's said on another thread, the developers don't deserve all those wealth no matter how good their products are so long as most of the worlds is starving.

Hi,

Well, I live in Chile (SOuth America) and the average income is 6 times less than in the US, and new games cost average 70-80 dollars. So really a game is a lot harder to get than in the US. Thats why there is a lot of piracy here (except for the PS3). The PS3 launched at a 1500 dollars. The PS2 launched at 2000 dollars. THey werent official launches, but thats the price you would get in unofficial stores.

I am not proud of it, buy I have 100+ PS1 copied games, 50+ PS2 games and a few originals, I just cant afford more new games. Its a lot easier to mod your console and buy or download games for a few bucks.

Now that I have a PS3, I have 2 games average (keep trading them) and I enjoy them much more than copied games, yuo just give original games more value, you push harder to finish them and replay them, just because you paid a lot more.

I hate my self for been a pirate for some years.

It depends, if a person is poor, can only afford to buy a few games a year, and does so, then I don't object to them pirating some games that they can't afford.

Also, once a game hits a certain age I have no moral qualms with someone pirating it

Or like me,who can't afford to buy any game ever, or better yet not be able to justify such puchase with my parent's money. Thus I pirate every game I ever play, hell I can't even afford to buy a console and mod it.

Well I must admit that games are excessively high priced here in France. 70€ for a game is way too much and I'll never pay that. Moreover in France, there's almost zero discount on games and second hand games are definitely overpriced (65€ for a recent second hand game ??). So I do understand why there's so much temptation for piracy. But that's not a good thing in my opinion.
For example my brother gets almost every 360 game released for free, but he actually doesn't enjoy them much and he doesn't play them much either (4010 Gamerpoints with 70+ games...).
So piracy doesn't solve anything and I actually makes me a bit sick to see people having hundreds of games they didn't pay when I honestly buy my games.

So to sum up, piracy makes pirates not enjoy games that much, and it also makes honest customers feel bad.

I wish games were priced half the price they are, so that people would actually buy more games and not just the few blockbusters, thus killing innovation and creativity.

I hate new threads about piracy. Seems like theres a new one every other day? Do people even go through the forums before posting a new thread?
