Not sure. Mistwalker didn't need much of an excuse for Lost Odyssey since the retail version of that game didn't have large frame rate drops and all that other technical issues of TLR. The worst if ever got in the retail version of LO was minor dips in frame rate and noticeable yet tolerable load times or atleast from my experience.
Should have made it turn-based.
Action jrpg's almost always have bad combat.

TLR is turn based. You select commands and you watch the characters(or in this case, unions) attack the enemies.
BTW, I feel very insulted by the fact that you think that JRPGs with real time battle systems ususally have bad combat. I am a fan of Kingdom Hearts and Star Ocean(and maybe Tales sooner or later).

Kingdom Hearts is horrible.
I haven't played the other one's so I won't judge them, Kingdom Hearts is one of the main reason I hate when JRPG's aren't turn-based.

I saw that coming. It's becoming harder and harder to want thise game since 1UP is one of the most trustworthy sources in the gaming press IMO.

Wha? The 1UP Show and podcasts are cool, but I wouldn't call it trustworthy.
SE hasn't done jack lately. Their last fine console game was FF12. Since then they have released uninspired game after game. And to be honest the way FF13 is shaping up it does not look to be that great a title, though it should sell well regardless of how it turns out. They are smart to also release it on the Xbox360. It just goes to show how much confidence SE has in Sony.
If any game will save SE from mediocrity it is DQ9. This is the first FF or DQ original release for a hanheld. And considering there are 86 million plus DS's floating around out there it will be huge.
It also works out perfectly because DQ is old school style roleplaying which the limited hardware of the DS will not detract from. They compliment eachother perfectly. They are putting a lot of work in to this game because they know what is at stake. I totally look forward to seeing the result.

Guess I can cross this game off my "Man why can't Ps3 have JRPGs like the 360 list" The only JRPG that I'd want now is ToV (that's on the 360)... I just hope when the Ps3 starts getting JRPGs they wont follow the trend this generation and be terrible.
