Same thing happened to ToS: DotNW. Just try not to look into it too much.

What's sad is this is getting lower scores than ToS: DotNW lol. But yeah I agree. Critically it's doing bad but players seem to like it. I'll take players over reviews any day :3 I wonder how much this sell in NA though.

I don't think the game will sell that well.  The game has been under the radar in NA whereas the game had a ton of hype in Japan.  Heck, VGChartz thinks that the CT port will sell way better in NA(pedictions averages on the site have it guessing it will sell over 110K in its first week).  I was considering getting TLR but I still need to get ToV and that comes first.

Shrug, western reviewers for the most part have been shredding jrpgs to shreds in their reviews for years (with a few exceptions). And the japanese media basically just sells itself so... word of mouth/demo/rental is what you should be taking into account.

honestly why do they ship a game with technical issues(i mean a big company like Square enix),,,both of the versions should have been delayed and issues should have been taken care of.

Probably because S-E already received a boat load of money from MS to release the game on the 360 first.  Under that timed exclusive agreement they're probably not allowed to delay the game.  On the bright side, S-E now has 6 months to fix all the bugs and issues on the PS3 version.

Sound like a simple case of rushed game. Did Squeenix abolished their QA team or something?

Reader's Average is 8.1

Rent it first and judge it yourself. This generation there has been no love for JRPG for some reason.

Because they've they've been ending up on the 360. People then starting calling the 360 the "RPG King" of this gen.....then all the games flop....

That is because the games are just not that great.  And we have this gen two JRPG's you must have Tales of Versperia and Valkyria Chronicles.  Sometimes I even wonder if some people have played JRPG's before.

Well, to be honest except for Final Fantasy 4, I haven't played any other JRPG this generation, but I had the feeling most reviews were giving bad scores only because of the unchanged formula and prefered the western RPG. One friend told me he really liked Blue Dragon, and that one received low scores. But who knows, I haven't played them so maybe reviews are right. Anyway, don't let a review dissapoint you, play the game first and then decide.

The problem I have with that is that western reviews don't penalize other genres for having the same formula. Even my best friend remarked on this. He is more an FPS gamer than I am but he even mentioned that FPS games don't get penalized for the same old thing. Call of Duty Word at War is yet another WWII that is essentially Call of Duty 4 with setting change. A setting change to the most tired and worn out FPS setting of all time, I don't see anyone slapping 5 and 6 reviews scores on it.

It is not just a setting change they really tried to put up things in a game we don't have seen yet before they didn't realy succeeded that wel but some things are nice like the flamethrower an MP experience that builds furter on the COD4 experience an extra mode where you can hunt zombies.  FPS that don't really add new things get 5-6's aswell.

There has been DLC that added more variety than that Konnichiwa. However that isn't my point. If a well made FPS game with the same setting and same old gamplay can get a great score. Why can't the same be true for a JRPG? If a WRPG with excellent gameplay and technical issues can get a great score, why can't a JRPG?

Because their is probably more wrong than just technical issues,  tell me if all reviewers are so biased and give low scores to games as Infinite Undiscovery and The last Renmant why are the same reviewers then giving good scores to Valkyria Chronicles?

Simple, IU and TLR were released unpolished while VC had a lot of care put into it.

I got it in from gamefly yesterday. and sent it right back today. having no control over any units is just not my style as they dont do what i want in bigger battles. its just not a game that any hardcore gamer should be playing this time of the year with so many great games out. Im really hoping gamefly sends me Valkyra Chronicals like i wanted orignially or atleast Gears 2, dead space, motor storm 2,fable 2 or mirrors edge. but all these games are low on stock at gamefly which makes me sad.

I'm guessing it was MS who told S-E to just release the game and not delay it.  And since S-E already got the timed-exclusive money from MS, they probably didn't care one way or the other.

Poor SE. I had hoped for better.

Ouchies!! What's SE's excuse gonna be for this one?
