I didn't want to start whole thread for this. But this is from Gonintendo.com. I made a half joke over there that it is a system seller. But it is kinda true. This might both encourage casuals to buy a Wii and sell a ton of copies itself (not madden terretory, but a lot). Is this the type of games you think casuals can really relate to?

I haven't seen much information regarding this game, but that doesn't mean it won't do well. Do you have any background information that you can site as to why you think it will do well or are you just saying you believe people can relate to it so you think it could do well?

Like I said, it is a half joke.  It is mostly a feeling, but NFL Street sells in the millions.  Since the trend seems to favour the Mii-ish design recently I figured this my find success on Wii. (I could not find any data for sales of the older games, but it looks like it has been going since 2002 which is a good sign)

Even as shovelware, every game released is good for Wii.  Just look at PS2's shovel ware section of its library.  Every inch of shelf space is an advertisement for the console.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I was being serious, I wasn't mocking you. Games like this can come out of no where and make an impact, I thought you might be making a prediction and just wanted to hear your reasoning was all.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

So none of you think that 360 will pass Wii again when Halo and GTA come out?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

The Wii will be 800 thousand to 1 million units ahead by the time Halo 3 comes out, so no.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

The Wii will have five weeks to build a lead on the 360 before Halo 3 comes out, which comes out to about 900k units if current trends hold out. There's seven weeks between the American releases of Halo 3 and Super Mario Galaxy. For the 360 to stage a comeback during that timeframe, it'd have to sell something like 365k units a week for all seven of those weeks. That's not impossible, but it sounds like a bit much to me.

Factors that would change that analysis are the 360 price drop and the likely increase in Wii/360 sales for the holiday shopping season.

Galaxy is going to move a fair share of units too, don't forget that.

Galaxy isn't released in the time-frame under discussion.

Let's not forget Grand Theft Auto in October and Smash Brothers in December. (Although for me Fire Emblem is a bigger game than either of them) ;)

Edit : Ah, sorry about the timeframe thing, I missed that. >.<

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

That's why I insinuated that the 360 would have to catch up before the release of Galaxy in America...the 360 gets Halo 3 and GTAIV before that, and the Wii gets Galaxy and Brawl after that. I'm not sure when those Wii titles release in Japan, which could further constrain the 360's catch up period.
