Forums - Website Topics - Who wants to be a moderator?

Death2009 said: Can I get a comment on my forum change Idea?
In theory it's a great idea, as it sure keeps things organized. But VG just doesn't seem to have the traffic to keep all of those sub-sections going. Even now the Europe forum is fairly light on threads. But thats ok, as having most people post in General discussion seems to work quite well. Most people just want to post and discuss where the action is. As for this generous outpouring of support, gee... you're making me blush... ahem, excuse me, what I meant to say is that judging by the reactions of my fellow posters, I hereby announce that I am forming an exploratory committee to examine the possibility of maybe announcing my intention to think about seeking Moderator status. *runs off to send an e-mail*

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Wait you will have more chances in the future for people becoming moderators? If so I will try next time because I got to get to know some of these users. Maybe while im on the subject (im kind of sorry about taking this off topic) but you should make a forum for new people can introduce themselves. Anyways can you answer my first question? Thanks.

Wow, the forums are deathly quiet. I wonder if everyone is sending e-mails. LOL

I understand if it is not the time to expand the forums, maybe later if traffic picks up.

I don't think moderators need to be impartial (everyone has their own view and personality - and this is a good thing!), but they do need to make their moderation impartial. Pointless banning/deleting posts because you don't like someone, or what they say (rather than the person breaking the rules) is pointless. I was a heavy poster on another board (pcvsconsole) until I got the s....'s with having my posts deleted, moved or edited for absolutely no reason. Whatever happens, I don't want to see this forum turn into something like that. If people are going to spend their *precious* time contributing, we should do our best to respect what they write and think (unless its obviously over the limit).

That sounds like bad mods. Not the type of moderation I am talking about.

Oh yeah... and I nominate Kwaad He seems to have plenty of time to browse the forum, his language/English is pretty good, and I think his posts are a good example of what *should* be allowed on the forum. Plus, it should be fun to have a PS3 fanboy as a moderator - balances out all the Wii fans here ;)

If I am a mod. I will NOT have a opinion. I do not feel it is in the best interest of this site. And I would probibally be harder on PS3 fanboys because they tend to be horrible. I'm not gonna say any names, but I would have warned quite a few of them on quite a few occasions... :P ALSO: Personal insults, fighting ETC. Should be pulled up with a tempoary ban. (a few hours) and then if they do it agian... A much longer ban. 1 or 2 days... If they do it agian. something like 7 days. If they do it agian. See-ya. :p Personal insults/fighting, should not happen. Ever. It's understandable that sometimes things come out like that, but attacking someone's personal life has no reason but to hurt people.

Why so? I don't think we should aim to be a "professional" news reporting site - in the same ways that newspapers, and large news reporting corporations are. We can be factual and fun - where people are allowed to have opinions, and *other* news is debated and posted. Look at the news items posted here - they are all links to other sites (which contain press releases, etc..). Its not like we are writing the stories or reporting the news ourselves? Is it a bad thing that the founder/admin of the site is a Wii fan? Does that lessen this site, or what we are trying to achieve?
