Forums - Website Topics - Who wants to be a moderator?

Kwaad said: roadkillers said: Awwww, Kwaad is gunna win the moderator spot hes to popular not to. *Crys* I hope you remember me when you become big! If I get mod. You wont know it. I will NOT use Kwaad as a mod name. I will just say that now. And I'll remember you. But the mod wont. :P EDIT: Let me explain something really quick about my opinion. You can still post as whoever you were. A mod needs to be a person who comes in, and solves problems. Of cource they can post and talk. But a mod should NOT have an opinion. Not unless there is 1 mod PER system. So there needs to be 1 PS3 and 1 360 mod added. Because Wii_Gamer... well :P Need I say more. If this website has a Wii Biased opinion. 360 and PS3 users will tend to stay away. Infact That already happens WITHOUT biased mods. A site that is based on opinion. Needs to be an unbiased site.
Mod's to represent consoles? The last thing we need is for forum moderating to become a fanboy affair. The preference a person exhibits to a console is irrelevant to their ability to moderate a forum fairly. I have yet to see Wii_Gamer do anything that would suggest his moderating is biased. And once again, the two name, secret mod idea just doesn't sound right. For one thing, the identity of the mod would probably not stay secret for long, in which case it would become an unnecessary measure. However, if it did, posters would always be wondering who the mod is, and who is behind their decisions. It doesn't sound like it would foster a very open and friendly forum to me. Oh yeah, thanks Sintinel!

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

The reason I come to this site is to express my opinion and give predictions about the different consoles...I would still do that even if I was a mod...I believe it's possible to discuss things with the users and still act as an enforcer. The problem only comes when a mod starts using his power in his arguments with someone over, say console wars. But that's why you don't pick just anybody of course. Thanks for the recommendations too, guys...I think Stof is a possibility as well.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

By the way admin, Stof really appears to know his stuff. I add my vote to him being considered for a moderator...assuming you guys are still doing the vote thing. And by the way, I wouldn't limit it to just two more. If more than two qualified people apply, what would be the point in not accepting them? As the site and forum grow, you are going to need more mods, so why not go ahead and stock up?

Is there a chance the forums could be changed? Instead of general, america, europe, japan...Maybe changing it so each system has it's own forum? Maybe, this is just a rough draft. General Game Discussion Classic Game Discussion Microsoft Xbox 360 Sony Playstation 3 PSP Nintendo Wii DS America Canada Central & South America Asia Europe Moderation Locked Threads Archive Or something like that, it may lessen fanboyism flamewars by allowing them to talk about their own little systems. I would also suggest changing the forums to vbulletin if possible, vbulletin is the best forum IMHO.

Dude... If this works I wanna be a PS3 moderator if people let me. I love Sony. But if I become a PS3 moderator everyone would hate me because they hate the PS3. I'll take that risk though. PS: I have a problem i dont have an e-mail so I cant email him to apply

Admin, You've Got Mail. And again, about the more than two mods thing. It goes along with what you said: you need to build a team of mods who get along and work together towards making this forum all that it can be. The sooner you get these people together, the faster they will be able to get to know and respect each other.

Ok, let me rephrase my point. Unless asked, a moderator should not give their opinion, becuase the moderator is a person in power. When someone in power responds with an opinion, to something I say, they represent the site. So their opinion is VG CHARTS opinion. If a Console wars website is biased. You end up giveing people the opinion it's like... other... sites like this. EDIT: And Wii_Gamer does not post opinion. He posts facts.

So long as they don't violate any posting guidelines(which need to be established and apparent, by the way) there is no reason why a mod shouldn't be able to respectfully present an opinion, or argue a point. Unless you want a forum that is seemingly run by robots, you need mods that you can relate to, and therefore respect. Nobody respects a robot.
